i ordered a M3 real and a 2 gb memory stick with gba pack from dealextreme as well as a fm car transmitter well and a 8gb memory stick for my psp, well i got a confirmation e-mail from dealextreme they took my money but they did not give me a hong kong tracking number which i though was odd, i logged into my dealextreme account and it order status shipped but unlike my other order this one did not have a hk tracking number, well this was on june 20 and i emailed them on July 25 asking for my package with a support ticket, they have finally e-mailed me back on the support ticket.

It seems my package was damaged by customs and was returned to them, they are now demanding i pay them $8 dollars to reship it, I thought shipping was free?

Did you use EMS, I think DX made some mistake ask them again why you have to pay
Dealextreme never ripped somebody off, so it must be a mistake

Why the hell should he pay?
Dealextreme have the responsibility to ensure the item is sent to him.
Dealextreme knows it never even made it into his country and therefore is nothing to do with the OP.
If paypal crashed as he was ordering the item and the money never transferred properly would dealextreme say 'oh well you tried to send me cash we'll just post it to you anyway'?.. no.

Still, he should probably be paying some kind of customs duty (if like the UK) so paying an extra $8 seems fair, but not that it goes to HK.

Usually they only ask to pay U$ 8 if you selected EMS shipping, no matter where in the world you live.
From Brazil they only asked that once, because I WANTED EMS.
You can open a ticket to cancel and get your money back, and then buy your stuff.

And try to buy in separate orders, it's usually better that way, at least for me. Try separate all that order in 2 or 3 orders.

well i contacted them and complained but they said that us customs damaged it not hk customs, so they want me to pay for shipping the second time, i just paid them, its only a extra 8 bucks which i probably would have paid on import tax anyway, and i asked its not ems its regular air mail, although if this happens again im not buying from them again.

My friend got a refund for an item that was lost when shipping, and I think the support at dealextreme are friendly and understanding from my dealings with them.

you too? dealextreme tried to make me pay $30 in extra shipping charges, i ordered a package from them,it said in stock on the page, it wasnt and they did not ship it for 7 weeks, i was pretty pissed off i paid for ems and everything and they did not have it in stock, well it took the package about 9 weeks to get to me which by then i went on vacation, i came back from vacation found the slip from the post office and i went down to the post office, they send it back already, well i contacted dealextreme, they told me any package that is returned to them is charged a restocking, reshipment fee.
I was pissed i mean if they had sent it during the 8 weeks i was not on vacation after i ordered it, i would not have had this problem not to mention i paid extra ems to get it before i left for vacation, i complained about that and they said it was my fault for not being there to accept the package or getting someone to get the package for me, at which point they said they wont resend my package unless i pay for remailing by ems which was $30 or $5 dollars if i wished to downgrade the package to airmail, well i canceled my order and got most my money back but they refused to refund my ems shipping money which means i losts $30 bucks off dealextreme, im not buying from them again.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.
