Damn You Nintendo, Now what should I do with my AK 2i?

One month ago, I planned for everything. I ordered my AK 2i from 0SZ, then I bought a Micro SD and start downloading games, so I can be ready when the DSi XL comes out. I received my AK 2i after 20 days from shipping (that was two weeks ago). And all what's left, is to wait patiently for the DSi XL to comes out.
I have a habit that I always want to own the newest things (who doesn't). I planned to buy the original DSi in December, but when I saw the announcment of the DSi XL, I decided to wait for it. And now, The greedy Nintendo has just announced another DS (3DS) which looks from the name that it'll be a superior handheld and not a normal DS. I mean WHAT THE HELL, the XL had already comes out and now they announce another one. Why they didn't announce it before? The DS is a very succeful handheld, and it make for them billions of dollars from it. Why they can't stick with it? Will be there an end for their remake for the handheld? Why they can't stick on a certain handheld for at least three years? I HATE YOU NINTENDO, I never thought that I will hate a video game company more than Namco (if you wonder why, because they don't translate most of Tales series games).

And now what should I do? Should I go buy the XL and buy the 3DS in next year, or should I wait for the 3DS and put my new useless AK 2i in my box and hoping that it will work on the 3DS.
I'm so confused, so I'd like to hear your opinions.

See if you can get a cheap secondhand DSi somewhere, then wait for the 3ds. That's the best solution I can think of.
And next time, it might be smarter to buy a system before buying a flashcart for it.

The DS phat, DS lite, DSi, and DSi XL are all effectively the same handheld with minor improvements. The 3DS will be completely different; it'll be like the transition between the GBA and the DS. If the Acekard is blocked by the 3DS, it will be re-enabled through some firmware update like it was when DSi 1.4 came out.

3. Buy used DSL/Phat for temporary fun. (They are way cheaper then DSi, and the games are kinda the same)
4. Wait & Play. (pkmn etc.)
5. Buy 3DS.

Indeed, you are so confusing. Why don't you just by 'a' DS and start playing? The 3DS is something of the f-u-t-u-r-e, the DS is here and now and will definitely continue to be fun for the forseeing future. The 3DS might be a total failure who knows? Every minute you waste by moaning and whining is a minute you could have spent playing fun games on your DS.

I have the DSL. Thought about DSi since it's screen is larger, until I heard about the DSi XL. Bought the XL. Glad I did.

And who knows about the 3DS ? It may not be compatible with the DS carts. And who knows when it will actually get to released to your locale?

If you ask me I think they stayed with the DS a little too long, my opinion is buy, a DSl/DSi second hand and buy the 3ds which will most likely be coming out late next year and just have fun with the DS for more than a year.

The DS is over 5 years old, 6 when it comes to November. It's about time Nintendo announced a successor to the DS. The DS Lite/i/XL are just rehashes with basically the same core hardware.

@Demonbart: I never bought something from the internet before. Because when I want something, I always go straight to a local market to buy it, The only thing which I want to buy from the internet is AK 2i, so since I don't have Visa nor MasterCard to buy it (and I'm not planning to have one since it's costly and I only need it to buy AK), I needed to buy it through someone. Unfortunately I didn't found that someone in real life, but I found a good guy from the internet who offered to the people that he will buy anything for them just for $3 for his work, and of course I should pay him first the AK's cost and the $3 to his account. So do you understand me?
If I bought the handheld first, then ordering the AK through him. What should I do with the handheld if that person appeared to be a liar. After all, you're paying to a stranger from the internet world, so you should expect anything. So in my case, I should own the AK first, then buy the handheld.

@tattar8: Yeah, you're right, the 3DS will have a backwards compatibility with the DS/DSi games, if I wait for a year, I can have a superior handheld and plus save my money from buying the XL.

@birlinka: It's true it will be sad for not playing and having a fun with the DS for over a year, but if that's my destiny, then I shall buy a wii for my enjoyment and to comfort me for the time being. The year (like always) will move like a flash. Not to mention that I own a PSP, and I'm still enjoying it, and also there will be great games to be released in the near future like Metal Gear, Kingdom Hearts, and God Eater. So still it'll be a fun.

@Edhel: and that's what I'm saying, they should be making a real successor and not countinuous remakes, if it for not those remakes, I should have a DS from a long time.
And what's the point of making XL if they are planning to make the 3DS.

You just f**ked up if you keep waiting.. What I would advise you is: buy something woth a slot 2 (DS Lite/DS phat) while you still can because there will never be again a gba nintendo.. BTW, its the only way to use Pal Park in pokemon series.. Then if you want to wait for 3DS its your choice, but I think it would be better wait to see how things will be with 3DS...


In consoles market and pc market, the worst thing you can do is wait for better, there will always be something better waiting to be announced, with distance of months... You buy something and next month they announce something better, thats how they make money.. They announce something like it would be the last thing they would ever release, but... guess what? They will announce something "even better" 3/6 months later....

All the reasons to buy a DSi XL are still there and still valid. It's not like it lost half its functions all of a sudden. It's still the same DSi you were planning on buying.

Besides we all know you shouldn't buy the launch model. Ever. *cough*GBA SP*cough*DS Phat*cough* So even when the 3DS comes out, you'd still be wise to wait a few months for a possible (inevitable) revision.

I couldn't agree more! With that attitude of yours, gaming would be nearly impossible for you to enjoy. Everything will evolve. As previously suggested, just get yourself a cheap DS to subside all these thoughts of "holding off for the next generation console"

basically get the DSi XL now and then when it's out next year trade that in and get the 3DS it should knock a fair chunk of the 3DS price off

so that way you get some use out of the acekard 2i and then get the uptodate system

and no the acekard 2i will definately NOT work on the 3DS they'll bring out new AP measures or whatever it is like they did when the DSi came out. so if they get made new flashcards will also be required
