Hardware D2Pro abd Utility Disk

I recently bought and fitted a D2Pro (9 Wire) to my DMS Wii. It is fitted using a WiiClip.

The chip is working in that it plays backups.

I have no idea what firmware it has so I decided to run the latest utility disk (v1.7). I made sure that I downloaded the 9 wire European version.

The disk is recognised and displayed as a GameCube application as expected. But when I run it I simply get a blue screen with the message

"Sorry, no d2pro chip found!"

Any ideas what the problem is?

I'd appreciate any advice.
