Use a bgm.bcstm of 3.3mb or less that has been encoded using a base wav at 19000Hz or greater.
Set your theme to a default color one or no theme.
Install theme with CHMM or extdata.
Hit Y+Right to take a screenshot, then share it with us.
I'm at work, so I can't share any new screenshots right now, but I can tell you that the visual part of the theme works at least, I installed it last night. I'll try to check the bgm.bcstm file once I'm back home, but in YATA+ at least it played back without issues (Size is 1MB). Could it be that YATA+ ignores the 19kHz requirement? I downloaded it pre-converted from that brawl custom theme website since I didn't want to install some extra programs for the first theme, but it seems I may have to do the conversion process from scratch.

Typically if the audio is of too low quality it'll sound like nails on a chalkboard and make you question your life decisions. So if you get no music at all or if it fails to replace the current theme's music, you need to switch to a default or basic color theme.

I've made a version of Etna's theme with bgm, but when I try to install it, the CHMM gives me an error. :ohnoes:
If your current theme is already playing music. Switch to a basic color theme or no theme then try again. Unless your error says that the filesize is too large, then you will have to reconvert your bgm from wav and make sure it remains under 3.3mb when it reaches the bcstm step.

I already installed over the default theme since installing over a DLC theme gives me this.

You made sure it's a bcstm and not brstm, right? I'm not sure if Yata+ would auto open a brstm or not, never tried.
I definitely downloaded what's supposed to be the bcstm version from that website, but of course beyond the music working in YATA+ I can't be sure it's a .bcstm file since I didn't create it myself.

OT: Like i said I'll create a new .bcstm from scratch this evening, but it would still be awfully nice if someone tried to install the the theme with CHMM on their 3DS and see if the music works on theirs.

Maybe it's been asked but I have a little question about audio.

1. it's possible to make 44100Hz ?
Every time I try it end up in crackling party.
And if I try 22050 some part of my sound have tiny "crack"
2. what are the best audio quality or 3Ds ?
(btw don't mind the weight that a tiny really tiny song that loop)
1. Yes.
2. IDK.
Try to Normalize the sound file in Audacity!

I tried again several times, but nothing. BRSTM2BCSTM keeps crashing. I heard that it is not just my problem. But now I don't know how to do that damn loop. :|

So I have a problem, even though I successfully manage to create a bgm.BCSTM, when I apply the theme my 3DS Home Menu simply has no music even though the theme gets applied properly and the BCSTM written into the cache.

I made sure my BCSTM is small enough as it is 2.7mb, I have selected "Enable use of Background Music" in YATA+ and YATA+ can play the BCSTM just fine. I also tried to make the file with both, YATA+ and BRSTM-BCSTM Conversion Tool 1.1.1-1, both create the file correctly but the 3DS simply won't play it, any idea what I might be missing?

Oh lalalala so many thank !
I found why my 44100Hz was not working it require to be stereo.
And also I can confirm that normalise fixed my sound problems.

For those who download my Xerneas theme I encourage to take the V2 (I removed the V1 from the site)

Okay I got my bgm.BCSTM to play with another theme where I knew for sure BGM usage was working so it must be an issue with my YATA+ theme. Anyone knows what exactly I have to check in YATA+ so BGM gets enabled?

Hi there! I just want to share my first two themes for the 3DS, for now, the only sound that has been changed is the background music:

MegaMan Battle Network Theme:
GFjExJD.jpg
Molgera's Theme:
vawmCb6.jpg

You can download it from 3DS themes: On my profile page

If you meant me, sure I'll attach my BCSTM to my post :o

I'm 100% sure I made the BCSTM correctly though because it plays on my 3DS with a little "trick":

What works:

Downloading a theme with music and replacing the theme's bgm.bcstm with my own, the music plays then and loops.

What doesn't work:

Making a theme from scratch with YATA+, the theme itself gets applied properly with the bgm.bcstm but the music simply won't play if I use my own theme.

I solved the problem of the loop (using YATA+ instead of BRSTM2BCSTM). But when I try to install the theme, I get this error:

Error: [string "?"]:91: error writing file

The theme has also been installed, but this error did not occur before.

Before applying your theme, select a 3DS basic theme first and the error shouldn't happen.

@Xdqwerty there is health behaviour you can add to your character, then to use a health bar is lil more complicated, google n watch a few tutorial video on it, be too hard to explain here.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, the character has the health behavior
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
I know you have to create a health and health max variable. Then there is a calculation you use in code to subtract width size of the health bar. Google few vids.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, the "greenflatbar" is one of the preset health bars btw
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Yea you can use any bar/sprite. It will just change the width. Ok good luck and have fun. I'm off to go shoot some pool at the bar. Talk to you later.
    +1
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, why does the health behavior exist if you can just use a variable?
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
and nope the number still doesnt change
