Actually, if you install Herme's cIOS (choose IOS223 and then IOS36 and 36 merge) you can play a backup of rock band with uLoader (a usb loader) by choosing to run the game with IOS223.

... And the Guitar and Drums work?

I've been using Waninkoko's USB loader and a couple of graphical front end ones based on his... they would load the game, but none of the peripherals would work.

(EDIT - Thanks, after a quick search, I found instructions on how to do this... I'll try it out, but I'm still curious as to why my previously described situation isn't working anymore either... )

Ok... I tried the above, I merged IOS37 with IOS36 into IOS223. Here's what happens -

- I go to HBC and the light on the Rockband Guitar USB receiver is blinking like it should.

- I load uloader and the light turns off (as if the port is disabled)

- I then go to Rockband and select it to use IOS 223.

- I launch Rockband and the game starts -- BUT -- the USB Rockband Guitar USB receiver light never comes back on... and therefore I can't use the rockband equipment.

This is what happened with every other USB HD loader I've used...

I've tried re-installing IOS223 again, same results. I get no errors when I do this - it says installation was successful. Any ideas regarding what's wrong?

That's what I did, but I've only tried the drums so far. The drums work for me and I don't see why the guitar wouldn't work as well. I'll have to check to see if my wii acts the same when I go through those steps. Otherwise the only idea I have is to try to reinstall the cIOS

yes well kinda atm, my usb hdd's usb connector snapped off and deadly creatures won't fit on my 2gb mp3 player(only got 3 games on it).
plus it's necessary for those who don't use usb loaders and only use backup launchers or cioscorp.
anyway it's nice to have just in case.
i'm waiting for newegg to ship my replacement enclosure since the drive should still work.

Where are all the people with their Animal Crossing footprints doing speed comparisons. It sounds like 13a might make more games compatible than 13b, but is one faster than the other? Is either faster than rev10?

I have also went back to rev 10 its simply more compatable and stable...im not gonna go through all the Bullshit to make ios223....first of all an easier setup to do so will likkely exist (just a download and run this dol network)

Second of all i have the following issues

Rev 12 and 13 have major problems reading from the second usb port when i have my MEDIA 1 terrabyte drive in the PORT1 (because otherwise MPLAYER ALSO does not read the MEDIA DRIVE unless its in port 1...My WBFS 320 gig passport is in port 2....

On rev 9-11 i can use port 2 for usb loader gx with my terrabyte in port 1 and passport in port 2 NO PROBLEMS this means no "switching one or the other back to port 1 for it to be able toi read it at all...thats the case with rev 13 and rev12

I have little use for the games that require discs in the drive ANYWAYS and that is the ONLY suggnificant update i can see

002 FIX?! LMAO

ok just note that ALL oo2 error games from the sega titles to punchout ALL WORK on rev 9-11...

try punchout on cios rev13 without any extra bullshit tweaking....You get a 002! error surprise!

punchout works on revs 9-12!

see a pattern forming here?

Basicly we sacrifice better compatibility for what? FIXNG THE HANDFUL OF ALREADY SHIT TITLES I WONT PLAY IN THE FIRST PLACE! the few that required a disc in the drive b4 rev 12????

FuCcKk ThAt lol

ill stick with compatibility and stability over these "updates" any day..back to rev 10 or 11 for me (seems 11 works really well for me though its doesnt for others it seems)...

I JUST CAME!

...or actually:
I came.
I download rev13b.
I install rev13b.
I test a few games (reason below).
I reinstall rev10.
I post result.

What's the problem THIS time? I'll get to it but first let's get to speed test! Again using ACCF. Also a recap for those who didn't see my previous post.

Original disc (6x): 7 steps
Backup disc (3x): 9 steps
USB HDD (rev9/10): 3 steps
USB HDD (rev12): 7 steps
USB HDD (rev13a/b): 4 steps

So it looks like rev13 is just a tiny bit slower than rev 9/10. I don't think you'll notice a difference. Using ACCF again, there's a "pause" between each steps so to compare rev9/10 and rev13 again, here how it looks like:

rev9/10: 1, pause, 2, pause, 3, pause, title screen
rev13a/b: 1, pause, 2, pause, 3, pause, 4, title screen

With rev13b the 002 error is fixed but there lies another problem. Let's say you load up one game. Then a few minutes/hours later you quit and want to play another game. You load up the other game and lo and behold! It doesn't load! In order to play another game you would have to power cycle the Wii in order to play another game. Disconnecting and reconnecting the USB HDD doesn't work while the Wii is on after finish playing a previous game.

So I went back and reinstall rev10.

Yeah im getting the same issues loading a second game on all the loaders (tried rev 13 and rev 13b).

Can someone kindly post a download link for rev 11? ... rev 10 broke compatibility for homebrew for my usb, while 12 and 13 are both buggy for the usb loaders. lol

Thank you! Great details.

I hate to ask after all that, but did you check rev13a or just rev13b? Since the 002 check is handled by the loader in A and the cIOS in B, it would be interesting to see if there's a speed difference. Seems to me like A might be a little faster?

Otherwise, thanks a lot. It's good to have a more-or-less scientific measurement, since no one else seems to know relative speed changes with each revision. One of the things I like most about the USB loaders is the speed advantage.

I do agree that having to power cycle between games is a bit of a show-stopper. Good to see someone else thinking along these lines.

Channel File Manager 2 BETA 4 gives an error with cIOS rev13, I think it is because of the ES modification. But after the error message (-1017, if I remember correct), it continues.

I'm going back with those cIOS too, dunno if somebody saw it, but when i put the Mario and Sonic at Olympic Games disc in, that was working before install rev13, the SM gets frozen...

I tested rev13a when it release but didn't mention much because it's the same as rev13b with 002 fix. If you see what I listed the speed is the same.

Okay, I just wasn't sure if you had tested it or assumed it was the same. Thanks for clearing it up!
