Yasu made an R4 Kernel customizer, you can download it from his site, I don't know if the has been fixed by R4 Team yet.

edit: its called r4bugfix2

Cool! Thanks for the link. It seemed to patch SOMETHING and it still booted a couple games when I used that file, so maybe it worked.

i think you can. i havent tried it. but if i remember right. if you hex edit it. there is a string that points the media to moonshell. so there should be a string you can edit for slot 2.

you have to:
decrypt the _DS_MENU.DAT with r4crypt by chrism
open up the decrypted file with a hex editor (i use a free one called hexedit.exe or somethings hxd.exe search google)
once you in the hexeditor... just search for the string _DS_MSHL.DAT (this is for the media button. slot 2 string should be near that string.)

If not apparent already, you can edit the firmware to your desire.

In other words, something on screen annoying you? Change it.
Tired of the default 3 buttons, want one of them to do something different? Change it.

The possiblities are quite high, but you can't really add new features since the source isn't around, but just a decryption+hex editing option.

Well, up to that point IS apparent and I'm aware of it, what I mean is, can you do something like change position of something, or changing how the menu ctually appears, something like that

You'd have to be good at reverse engineering and whatnot for all of that. Mostly besides strings almost everything is in 'code' which is changed significantly when packed, and therefore doesn't actually show in a 'changable' manner. If you wished to do something like that, it would take a lot more research and skill than just staring at pixels, it would take months if not years of learning how to reverse engineer and playing around with different things. It's 'possible', but not with just this.

It normally takes a team of people as long to reverse engineer something as it takes for it to be made in the first place.
