Crytek UK is talking with various publishers about the possibility of creating a brand new TimeSplitters game, Eurogamer can reveal.

The studio formerly known as Free Radical Design is also discussing an original IP – a single-player and multiplayer first-person shooter – with publishers.

"We're talking to publishers at the moment about whether that's [TimeSplitters] a viable route or not," managing director Karl Hilton told Eurogamer at the GameCity festival in Nottingham last week.

"There hasn't been a TimeSplitters game for quite a while. Obviously TimeSplitters is a FPS with a strong multiplayer element. The question is, is that the way to go with another one, or should it go down a different route, or should we be developing a new IP altogether?

"It's down to us talking to publishers about what their interest is and where they see it going. If they're keen for a TS game, then we'd be happy to do one. If they'd like us to develop something new then we'd do that.

"Whether the TS is like the classic TS or whether the TS is a new imagined TS, that's the other thing to discuss with them."

While the game Crytek UK ends up creating is undecided, Hilton's comments are the clearest indication yet that gamers may one day see another TimeSplitters game.

And, according to Hilton, publishers are making positive sounds.

"Talking to publishers, everyone is aware of TimeSplitters. It's got a brand awareness that's really good. Its success in different markets was quite variable. So depending on who you talk to, they either look at it as a really successful product or as a product that was almost successful but could have done better."

I'm afraid it's not going to feel like the series now. The biggest difference will likely be the multiplayer, which kinda was just face lifted from Goldeneye/Perfect Dark. But there was style to it, and everyone loved that.

If they lose that "-ness" to it, it's gonna be baaaaad

I spent almost as much time making levels for TS3 as I did actually playing it. If you want to please die-hard fans, add a dev-level map editor in there with a full file-sharing suite. Also, keep the action on the arcade side - not every title has to play like CoD to be fun, let alone successful. Keep the goofy humor as well, and don't take yourself too seriously. 4-player Co-op and every game mode ever made would be nice too. Man what I'd give to make Future Perfect backwards-compatible on the 360.. ahh, I drooled a little there.

I love the TimeSplitters series. It's one of the only two FPS series that I actually like (the other being Blake Stone for DOS). My cousin and I loved playing Co-Op story mode together, although I have a love hate relationship with that. He would take the health and say he would protect me, then he would die like 2 seconds later and I ended up outlasting him...I remember once when we were playing against my sister and she tried to protect herself by surrounding herself with landmines so I wouldn't kill her. I just stepped back far enough to shoot the landmines and blew her up. She still hates when I bring up that moment...this is probably why she won't play games with me...anyway I've been waiting forever for a new TimeSplitters game

It's been discontinued but you can find em second hand. It's the FiiO model K1.

@SylverReZ nice. I've been using my BTR5 pretty much daily, got it in late 2020. Mostly use it as a desktop DAC though and the battery has already swelled up in it once, so I had to replace it. Some day I gotta grab a proper desktop DAC that doesn't have a battery lol

@K3Nv3, Yeah, cheap and nasty earbuds don't deliver the best mids, they end up sounding really muddy.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Sicklyboy, I got mine around 2022 (iirc) and it was brand new, never opened, and for £15 too compared to paying nearly £30 elsewhere.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Sicklyboy, That sucks when the battery already begins to swell up. You considering on a desktop replacement, and if so, which one?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@SylverReZ damn 15 is shockingly cheap for that. Even 30 feels like a good price just given what a bunch of other FiiO stuff costs. Granted, not familiar with what those were originally selling for, so who knows lol

As far as a replacement for my BTR5, I don't really have my eyes set on anything specific yet but it'll likely be from either Fiio or Schiit Audio.

@Sicklyboy, Originally when it came out, they sold for around $40 USD according to FiiO's news bulletin. https://www.fiio.com/newsinfo/54677.html

@Sicklyboy, I would prefer FiiO as the better brand for a USB DAC.

I feel like headphones reached a peak even ones from ten years ago sound better than new ones
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@K3Nv3, all depends how much money you wanna spend. I had skullcandy headphones and shit way back when but I never liked anything as much as the headphones (and earbuds) I use nowadays

@SylverReZ yeah fwiw I've been quite happy with my FiiO BTR5 so I don't have any specific reason to not a FiiO again. Just gotta see what's available and how much I'm trying to spend lol

I have the FiiO X1-ii, and love what it does, but the battery life is kinda ass and the sluggish, unresponsive menu makes me regret my purchase a little.

has anyone here played botw randomizer for switch?

(not the wii u version, specifically the switch version)
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Frankly not. That's like a 'cheat engine' for BoTW, right?
