These things are often done on a case-by-case basis though. Copying the ROM of a chip and flashing it onto another is not something unique to the 3DS, nor is it anything particularly hard if you know what you're doing (such as people versed in elecrical engineering). This is not special at all, this type of thing is done every day all over the planet for a wide range of things. People only seem to care
in this case because they think it'll let them play 3DS backups, thus all the hope turned to rage.

So yeah, this shit isn't new or unique, and it's not surprising the ROM dumping groups are calling out chinese flash cart clone companies on not being able to do shit.
