awesome work spinal, yoou know i love your stuff. but whats up with the mac users.... where i must place the boxarts on my sd????

ok path found. but now the next problem wich name needs the covers???

and my other problem is, i can start dsision3 over dsision2 (wich is set as default menu on my dstt) but when i set dsision3 as default system he shows me only a "unknow" as rom name. and yes i patched my dsision3 for dstt. has anyone a working and patched TTMENU.DAT for dstt???

I'm afraid you must use the DScovery.exe to update the card, it sets all of the filenames and places the correctly names box art in the right places.

I think there is still a problem with SDHC cards

Edit: I've been getting this in DScovery

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Tried this on YSMENU and R4. App loads ok but no games shown.
Tried to use DScovery.EXE but keep getting the following error.

Unhandled Exception has occurred in your application. If you click
Continue, the application will ingnore and attempt to continue. If
you click Quit, the application will close immediately.

Could not find the path
C:\...........................................\Dscovery\data\CBQP.ini

Any ideas?

I think it'll work with MONO (I think that's what it's called), there's also Win4Lin (for linux, MAC is linux based, so I am not sure about it), WINE (WINdows Emulator), to name a few...

I have not tried to do it on MAC/Linux, so I have NO clue...

At which point do you get that error? DScovery shouldn't be trying to load anything unless the file is actually there

I choose my flashcard and it brings up all the games ok. I then use whatever button it is to get the process going, sorry I dont have the app in front of me at the moment. It copies all of the boxart to the SD cart ok but then throws the error above. It could be because I am using win7. I have looked inside the index.dat in the system directory and it is empty. I am assuming it should contain some sort of mapping. The artwork seems to have copied across ok. The error occurs whether I choose all or individual games.

Cheers

I just had a look through the code, the only part I can find that might be doing that, is where it saves the name and checked status for each file.
Are you by any chance running DScovery from a read only folder?

Ok this is my problem:

I now have (I don't know why) a file named BM6◻ in the covers folder. it stops me from putting covers on (Illegal characters in path) is there any way to get rid of the file without reformatting my card?

(Yes I have tried to delete, rename it and move it)

I am running DScovery from the desktop which is probably a bad idea. I'll move it to a better location and try again.

Thanks

I just noticed, there is no check to see if the data folder (or the cover folder for that matter) exist. Next time you test, tray adding (if they are not there) a 'data' folder and 'covers' folder in the same location ad DScovery.exe

Thanks Spinal Cord, that's sorted that problem. Now I just need to do some more reading to get the games to actualy launch. I am just getting a pink screen at the moment.

Cheers

I think I get the same

Do you have a micro SDHC?
Does the top screen turn pink and the bottom screen freeze?

That's what I'm getting, the covers can be seen but not launched

Make sure you have ysmenu correctly installed on your card. For some reason it will not work on SDHC cards, I don't know why.

If DScoverd shows the top screen pink and the bottom screen blank, then the skin folder is missing, OR DScovered was not DLDI patched correctly/at all.

My problem is, I wouldn't have a clue if I have ysmenu installed correctly or not. It seems to work ok with all the games I have tried. It was a while ago when I replaced the R4 fimrware so I can't remeber the exact settings I used to set it up.

Without patching everthing runs well until I go to run a game then the top screen goes pink and the bottom coverflow screen freezes. It still shows the covers but no longer responds.

I have tried the following steps:

For the app to work, make sure you have the latest .net framework installed (it's coded in .net).
As for making it work on R4 cards, the R4 dldi patch that the R4 menu uses in incompatible with the loader I used.
To get around this problem, download the following tool set via megaupload apply the included dldi patch to DScovered.nds (no other files need patching) then run DLDI No-Patch.exe and apply it to DScovered.nds, this will stop the R4 menu from re-patching DScovered with the wrong dldi patch. You should now be able to load homebrew and ysmenu should also work too.
I now have a corrupted top screen and black bottom screen when running DScovered. I have exactactly the same issues n8littlefield described below.
QUOTE(n8littlefield @ Jan 23 2010, 02:09 PM) If any one actually gets this working on an R4 with commercial roms would you be willing to post a screen shot of your root - or better yet zip it up without the commercial roms and post it? I've been trying for a week now and still no luck.
Edit: Just to clarify - I had it installed and was getting pink screens when trying to load roms. Now, I did the above steps on patching the roms and when I load it from the R4 menu it doesn't even load properly (it looks almost corrupted) and freezes when trying to load a rom.
I have included some pics to show the problems in more detail:
Pink Top screen with no dldi patch used and corrupted top screen with dldi patch applied and then dldi blocked.

Do you think different versions of ysmenu will produce different results?
I think I will go back to the start and setup ysmenu from scratch and see how things go.
Cheers.

the first screenshot just looks like some of the skin files are missing, but I have no clue about the second one.
Is your R4 a genuine one?
I don't think a different version of ysmenu would make any difference.
