There's something about the officially compiled versions that is just ridiculously slow at loading the covers. Maybe it's a different version of the libraries used or something, but I'd been using the revisions for a while, and then switched to RC7U1, which was ridiculously slow at loading covers. Then, I switched to rev 709 compiled from another source, which was much faster again. Then, I just attempted to use RC7U2, and it's very slow again.

Seriously, it's slow enough at loading the covers that it bogs everything down. When clicking on a game, there's a hitch for five seconds before it shows the game menu.

Maybe you might want to check into the libraries that read from the SDHC card or something before the next time you compile? I don't know. I'll definitely be reverting to the rev 709 build I'd been using though.

Ive had a whole discussion with LoudBob11 on this issue.
When I compile the source, it compiles fine, but when I run the program I get code dumps.
When he compiles the source, it works fine.
Same OS, same compiler, same libraries.

I really have no idea what to think, I stopped trying to compile new versions a few weeks ago and have been waiting for the new versions.

Do I need ocarina to use the batch cheat loader? and if i do how should my sd card be set up? I mean what should the directories be?

Out of curiosity, will you be looking for other options in regards to getting covers for the coverfloader due to recent events? I saw where one guy said he could do it for the community for free....dunno just a thought....it does sorta take the kick out of kick ass app for those who dont want to feel forced to donate to have that functionality working...

*sigh* where does it end....next thing you know...uploaders are going to start wanting money for what they upload....strange things are brewing

Ive also got the very slow issue of loading covers. Like you say it bogs down the whole system and when clicking on a game it stalls for 5 seconds or so until it looks like all the covers have been drawn.

@Scoobyscoobydoo @jhoff80:
there is *NOT* any difference in speed between 2 developers compilation!
I have no problem running coverflow with any build (have 22 games).
So please stopping telling that, it's ridiculous

If you have problem there could be other reason, did you noticed no one else reported the same problem?
I'm not saying that you don't have that "bug" but I can assure you it is not that the problem.
And for the user that can't compile, sorry, wait for the official release...we are short in time for now, so it's a miracle we are still releasing new versions.

Hi,

Just to let you know I have a problem with slow cover loading. Running a 3.2e, 13a with a 1GB Kingston SD. SD card works ok with everything else.

Apart from that great loader. Thanks for all the time you put in.

Anyone can still get the covers for free by going to the site and getting them manually and putting them on your sd card.
DONT FORGET TO PUT IN THE SIZE YOU WANT FOR THE IMAGES AS SOME PEOPLE HAVE DONE !!

It's not the covers that cost, it's the massive bandwidth useage (and from what I've read it IS massive). It's not free to run a webserver you know, and I for one am grateful for them keeping it "free" for as long as they have. You only need make a one off donation of as little as $1 - it's not exactly extortionate is it ?
The alternative is of course to manually make your own covers (as these guys learnt to do in the first place) or not bother with the covers at all - It's not like the games won't work without them.

I'm not flaming you personally here so please don't take offense

Rc7.U1 and U2 very slow when chosing game or settings, u2 even frooze
Its fine to load up, its fine to browse covers/games, but to choose game, change settings, slow

I have no objection about the fact of donating to get the ability to download the covers directly from the site to your Wii. But it would be so cool if there was the ability to download all the covers (2D and 3D) in the needed dimensions from 1 or several packages hosted on, I dunno, megaupload or whatever. Obviously someone should do it... I'm just suggesting it, I have no time to do it myself, but it would be nice.
