Look, there's a lot about this stuff that I don't understand, but let's say that I have 4.2 sysNAND and 9.8 emuNAND (currently the latest version). Since I have to update my emuNAND to play my games online (in order to get the new game patches from the eShop), is it possible that a firmware update in the future (that I use to update emuNAND only and obviously not sysNAND) could stop emuNAND or things like FBI Installer and SaveDataFiler from working correctly? That's a scary thought, and these things are pretty important, and I want to be sure that I can use them no matter what Nintendo does. After all, they do whatever they can to make sure stuff like this doesn't happen. So what are your thoughts of my bolded question?

It does happen, like emuNAND 9.6+ doesn't work at all on New 3DS. Normally Gateway will release an update to support the new firmware, this is just harder on the New 3DS because they changed the encryption on it and patched the hole that GW used to get the encryption keys last time. On o3DS this is not likely to be an issue though, as long as Gateway is around to release updates.
You don't have to update in order to use the eShop though. You can use this: https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-free-multi-patcher.391945/

Thanks for the answer. Okay, I'm on an Old 3DS XL and I use RXTools, and I don't have a gateway card. However, I can get to the gateway thing just by using the browser exploit. I'll definitely look into what you shared with me.

Simple...it has to be supported, confirmed to be support, before doing any updates. So if you want to be one of the many who likes to update there emunand without making a backup than you end up screwing yourself and will have to create emunand all over again.

Without consulting my crystal ball and predicting the future, I'll go with yes. It's probably not too difficult from them to simply check where the firmware is actually being loaded from, and kill it dead in it's tracks (that being said, a check like that probably wouldn't be all that difficult to be worked around either, however I'm certain that there's other ways they could check for this as well).

IMOP as long as there are people like me with a hard mod then there will almost always be people dumping cia files. I was the first to dump xenoblades chronicles USA update for gateway n3ds users and with firm patching I don't think we will ever be left in the dark too long with an update as long as we have an exploitable system nand

i thought everybody knew cocktails are like 75% ice
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    so..... yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Booo.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    it's dumb
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Maybe.

There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.

Usually accidentally overdose of ibuprofen here is from people taking like cold medicine then ibuprofen for a headache and the combination is over what they need
