i have games installed to a USB stick using WUP installer but would like to upgrade to a bigger USB drive. plugging it into a PC wont work as its formatted for Wii U and wont let you access it. what would be the easiest way to copy my games and data to the new USB?

Theres only one way through the Wii U system settings. Hope that new hdd has either a y cable or plug into wall or it wont work. You need to plug one hdd in front one in back.

i was going to copy to a 128 gb usb stick. So I'll need to get a y cable adapter even if I plug it into the back?

If it's another usb stick you shouldn't need a y cable.

If you hadn't have already bought it I would have advised you to get a real hard drive though. Those usb sticks are not meant for games and while they may last awhile they will eventually die and you'll lose everything on it including your saves unless your back them up.

i think i have an extra laptop hdd i could use with an enclosure. the enclosure im looking at has no external power and can run off of one usb cable on a PC. would this work on the wii u or i would need a y cable so i could plug into 2 usb ports on the wii u?

You need a y cable. You can get one on Ebay for only a few dollars.
