Sometimes Cgf USB Loader doesn't load my theme on my SD card and code dumps when I attempt to download covers/themes. It says it can't mount the SD card, but strangely every once in a while it can (and the theme is loaded correctly). I don't know if this is related to your program, but I thought it worth mentioning.

How are you launching the loader? Via forwarder or HBC? Do you have the loader boot.dol on the SD card, USB drive or both? Do you have a "usb-loader" directory on either the SD card, USB drive or both?

Launching the loader via HBC. Cfg USB Loader is on my SD card (the same card that the program itself cannot mount?), and my games are on a WBFS USB drive. The usb-loader directory is on the SD Card as well, but as I've said it can only sometimes be loaded. I really can't figure out what causes it to sometimes mount and sometimes not. It seems like if I put the sd card in my PC and put on a fresh .dol file it works more often, but maybe that's just because I remove and reinsert it into the Wii.

Hmm... It is strange that the HBC always recognises the card, but Cfg doesn't. I'm not sure we can fix the error without a similar card for testing, unfortunately.

Well, if I figure out a solution I'll be sure to post it. Now I'm no expert, but perhaps I have a broken IOS so the SD card cannot always be correctly mounted. I'll run a SignCheck tomorrow and see if it all looks normal.

My bet is on a faulty SD card.

Maybe it just needs to be reformatted or replaced with a different SD card.

I'm having the same issue. I believe it's the card. I'm using a 4GB SDHC card so I need to try it out on an SD card. I've spent a few times downloading all the covers for my games only to have them not load the next time I boot. For whatever reason it says the SD card is not accessible. I also can't get it to boot from the channels consistently, but the HBC always loads. The settings are never the same though. I created some config files to recognize my FAT partition from the start and that's gone too. I really hope it's just the card cause I need to get this thing so it's reliable. I'm really new to this stuff so I'm kind of at a loss. I've tried reformatting the card and it worked until I reset the loader. I had just downloaded all the covers again and then I updated the Wiidb and titles.txt...would that have anything to do with it?

UPDATE: I just bought the Sandisk Wii SD card and everything seems to be working perfectly. It was cheap at Wal-Mart so I'm happy.

When was SDHC support improved? Last time I tried cfg (a few different revisions around r60, iirc) my 4gb sandisk micro-sd card (in adapter) wouldn't work with it, but the past few revisions I've tried it has worked perfectly with.

My 2gb sandisk ultra sd has always worked well.
It was improved around the release of rev18 of IOS249 to allow SDHC support for FAT. There hasn't been any changes since then. I'm not sure what you mean by r60...

Regarding deletion of games via CFG USB Loader:

Are there any known issues with deleting games from a WBFS formatted USB drive through CFG USB Loader? I've got a few games that have long since been traded in that I more than likely will never play again, and I'd like to free up some space on the drive.

I seem to remember someone posting about an issue with this, but don't know what ever happened regarding it.

For reference it's a Seagate Agent Go, 320 GB drive (20GB formatted FAT, 300GB formatted WBFS). I'm running a soft modded Wii, 4.2U, cfg57b5 & CIOSX rev 19.

Was a typo, config rev/v50 I meant not 60.
v50 was when we added NTFS support, so yes, that was ages ago. The FAT partition on SDHC improvements were made with v55b2.

If you formatted the drive with Cfg or another USB loader, there shouldn't be an issue. If you formatted the drive with a WBFS manager, then you might find some games don't work any more after you install some new ones afterwards.

Safest method would be to perform the WBFS to FAT32 transfer and then delete the games.

Crap. I don't remember what I used to format the drive. I'm about 75% sure I used the tools in Cfg. If I decide to go to FAT32, do the file sizes of the installed games change significantly? I'm gonna need to free up a lot of space on my PC if I do the conversion/transfer I think.

*EDIT* Answered my own question re: file size. Gonna try to do the convert tonight. Hopefully all goes well.

I'm ready, what will be to test for you guys in 57b6 ??

57b6 is fixing the cheat and clear_patches saving bugs that were in 57b5 and adds theme preview images. Usptactical was pretty sure that he'd have enough time to finish it today (it would have been out last week but unexpected delays meant he hasn't had time to finish off the last few touches).

As long as there are no errors with the implementation, you can probably expect the full version of 57 to arrive very shortly afterwards (provided oggzee is around

Is their anyway to permanently set the initial view? It's a pain having to go down all the time until I get a view that I can than flip the boxart.. if you press up normally you get the grid. I want to lock the view to one of the flo views and not the stupid GRIDs.. and I wish to be able to lock it.. not have to cycle to it every single time I use USB Loader.

To make the one you want to be the one chosen at the start, then either set the gui_style option in config.txt or settings.cfg, or select the one you want and save global settings (they save to settings.cfg for you).

To make sure it starts with the gui and not the console, use gui=start in config.txt.

To make it so that you can't change to other styles, use gui_lock = 1 in config.txt.

Quick question, are there any plan for editable cheats to be enabled (with a simple text input for the XXXX that needs setting) in cfg?

tia.

(btw * Return directly to the loader when exiting a game: use preloader! can be removed from the faq section of the initial post whenever oggzee is next around, if you weren't aware it was still in there).

This is cool!!!Thanks a lot....

Doc,

I realise that it's been on the to-do list for a long while but, would it be possible to add some kind of screen dimmer / saver function ?

I wasn't sure if that particular to-do had been lost in the wake of all the other great extras that have been added, or if it's just a tricky one to implement?

Now that CFG is so kid-safe and easy to use, the only thing I have to worry about is when the kids leave the Wii on after they've finished

In the meantime I'll keep up the 'train-the-buggers-to-turn-the-wii-off' campaign

, but it definitely would be a welcomed addition for me
