Has the option to turning off card read DMA been added in the new version? I've checked, but I can't find it in the game options.

Sit is is to run DS and DSi games, not to run 3DS games. And if you want to unlock stuff in GBA games without the card reader just play a hacked rom with that stuff unlocked.

They asked about the card read DMA setting in akmenu-next, not running 3DS games or unlocking anything in GBA games.
Did you mean to post this in a different thread?

My bad I forgot about this. Will add it this week and push out an update.

Helo Kai, thanks for your amazing work! Any plans on including cover art?
Sorry I have no plans for this currently, it would change how themes work and I want to ensure its compatible with existing Wood R4/AKAIO themes.

And what is that? I don't remember any DS games with stuff like that.
Some DS games use the DMA hardware to read ROM data asynchronously (where the CPU can't), which as a result, allows game code to keep running at the same time the data gets read from the ROM.

And what does it have to do with cards?

AKMenu-Next v3.0.0 New
New Release: AKMenu-Next v3.0.0
Huge amount of changes in this release, I hope everyone enjoys the new features 😊

Changes

  • Upgraded theme system with game cover art & background music.
    • You can use tools such as Pico-Cover and AKMenu-Next will show game covers once you switch to a "Game Cover" compatible theme. Some are included. You can also use _nds/covers_code for XXXX.bmp game code covers and _nds/covers_name for filename.bmp covers in addition to the Pico-Launcher default _pico/covers/nds location.
    • Themes now support background music, by playing a bgm.wav file in the folder of your chosen theme. It must be a 16-bit 22050Hz mono WAVE file, you can use tools such as Audacity to convert them. All the packaged themes include Music released under Creative Commons and the artist is attributed in Music Attribution.txt in the theme's folder.
    • Themes now support additional time & date assets & configuration. Please refer to the Themes & Covers documentation.
    • Themes support custom icons in NDS banner bin format and can be loaded from the icons folder inside a theme, missing icons will simply fall back to the built in ones.
    • Themes are now categorised and easier to browse & select and can be accessed from the start menu.
    • Wood R4/AKAIO themes are still backwards compatible and your old themes will still work too.
  • New themes: Starlight & DSpico. Starlight is the new default & modern looking theme by @Sanrax and I advise you to check it out! It's available both in Normal and Cover versions and is included in the downloads. This theme has custom icons. If you don't see them after updating, make sure Settings -> Interface Settings -> Icon Source is set to Theme Icons
Extra themes are also available in the releases below.
  • Rearranged some settings to fit the categories better and some settings now scroll to better fit the appropriate settings.
  • Games can now be sorted in Alphabetical Order by Filename & Game Title Name and Date Modified Ascending & Descending Order.
  • Added global save slot override in Other Settings.
  • Added Pico-Loader as a supported homebrew loader. This should fix Moonshell not booting on the DSpico but can also be used to load homebrew on the DSi or 3DS SD card as an alternative to nds-bootstrap-hb or the default loader.
  • Added a fail-safe mode that goes back to the previous theme used if the newly selected theme is invalid or missing, so you won't get stuck on a blank screen with icons.
  • Added an error screen if no themes are installed.
  • Added an error screen if AKMenu-Next system files are corrupt or missing.
  • About menu now shows the version of Pico-Loader being used and which loaders are installed.
  • Added .NDZ compressed ROM support for the DSpico IR by @Pheeeeenom
  • Added Russian Translation by @999px
  • Updated Italian Translation by @LeddaZ

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed .sav file being mistakenly created for DSiWare.
  • Updated Slot 1 Launcher to work with DSpico.
  • Plugins now use the configured homebrew loader in the settings if bootstrap=0 is set instead of always using the built in loader.
Due to the filesize of this release, some older themes have been omitted, you may redownload them here, and the download also includes some extra themes, including Game-Cover compatible versions of Acekard Black and Zelda.
