alright cool, so just save options on whatever view I have it, and it will load that way next time? sounds good then!

what more will you be adding to this loader, or is this still being supported very much?
There's a bunch of stuff in the first post about some features that might show up. There's lots of other cool stuff that might just appear too. And the global options thing won't save everything. E.g., if you want the gui to be on by default, you need to add "gui=start". There are plenty of other options that you need to set in the config.txt and theme.txt files if you want to use them. For more info, see README-CFG.txt, my guide's page about the options and my Configurator application.

9 fat partitions & 4 WBFS? Interesting.

Silly ? --- Does this support multiple FAT partitions?
Yes. Up to 9 of them.

cfg v48 (release)

full package: Cfg_USB_Loader_48.zip
normal boot.dol: cfg48.dol
-fat boot.dol: cfg48-fat.dol
(or online update)

Included in the full package is now also the Configurator v48.2, it is located in:
sd:/usb-loader/CfgLoaderConfigurator.exe

Changes:

cfg v48 (release)

* External ehcmodule improvements (by WiiZ)
* Fixed titles.txt with custom game ids (proper ID6 lookup)

cfg v48b2 (beta2)

* FAT loading speed optimisations
* Support for 4gb .wbfs files on FAT - fixed the 2gb limit
* Changed the default split size when installing to 4gb-32kb
* Option: fat_split_size = [4], 2
* Benchmark mode with debug = 8 and start or install a game
* Allow space in profile name, so the names must be separated by a comma (,)
* Raised max favorites to 100
* Removed obsolete cover sites: gateflorida.com, awiibit.com
* Cleanups

cfg v48b (beta)

* NSMB NTSC patch
* Make updating meta.xml optional by pressing button 1 in the
online update screen to skip it.
* Specifying titles url allows the use of {CC} tag for the country code.
changed default: titles_url = http://wiitdb.com/titles.txt?LANG={CC}
* Presing button A on global options screen works too (same as right)

cfg v48a (alpha)

* Profiles - aka multiple favorite groups
option: profile_names = [default], name2, name3,...
(max profiles:10, max profile name length: 16)
Profiles can be added, removed and reordered with this option.
But if you want to rename it, you will need to change the profile
name also in settings.cfg otherwise it will be considered as a new
name and the old one will be forgotten next time you save settings.
Profiles can be switched in the global options screen. Changing a
game favorite setting is done as usual in the game options screen.
option: profile = name will specify the default profile to use
saving global settings will also save which profile is used
* Minor fix to favorites switching in console mode
* Update /apps/.../meta.xml when downloading an update.
So that the correct version is visible in HBC
* Added 'Update titles.txt' to global options screen.
option: titles_url = [http://wiitdb.com/titles.txt]
Can be changed to a localized version like this:
titles_url = http://wiitdb.com/titles.txt?LANG=FR

dunno if it's a bug but I can't access the loader through the Hybrid channel with version 48, it worked fine with version 48b2, it also works fine through HBC with version 48? how can I downgrade to version 48b2? I am using a USB drive, thanks

To downgrade, just perform the same steps you would to upgrade.

I have an idea...... You know how the Wii has game play history, right? (bottom right of the System Menu, 'Today's play history' message). Now, if I go to the Homebrew Channel and launch USB loader, it comes up in play history as the Homebrew Channel.

Likewise, if I use Narolez's forwarder channel, in the play history it has me as playing a couple of hours of Configurable USB Loader.

Is there any way to make the play history reflect the game that you play with the loader? It'd be pretty sick if you could make it work. However, it might be a system menu IOS thing, could probably be quite a bitch to make it work.

Reckon it's possible?

And also Oggzee, what'd you use to make the demo video of the loader (E.G. what brand of video capture device)? The best I can do at the moment for stuff like that is setting my camera on a tripod, setting manual focus and shutter etc, and piping the audio into a laptop. That's far from a perfect solution though, and it still looks pretty crap.

Thanks for the quick answer.
I always used wbfs_file and sometimes the loader to copy the backup from wii dvd drive.
Anyway...add -g to the line solve the problem. Thanks again.
Hmm, if the file has been created with wbfs_file, makes me think that there might be some bug i don't know about. Can you try to reproduce the problem?
Do you still have the .iso that you used to create the .wbfs file?
Can you create a 2gb split and then convert that to a 4gb split, something like this:

:: convert the game to 2gb .wbfs:
wbfs_file.exe -2 game.iso

:: resplit to 4gb to temp directory:
mkdir temp
wbfs_file.exe game.wbfs extract_wbfs_all temp

With the same game that you encountered problems when re-splitting, that was disney think fast, right?

If you have time to test this, let me know if it gives an error again.

Oh and another idea, if that works, can you try the first step (.iso to 2gb wbfs) with the same wbfs_file that you used to create that originally, 1.5 was the last that has the default split size at 2gb-512b, so maybe try also with that, since the wbfs_file 1.6+ the -2 option uses the split size 2gb-32kb, so it is a little bit different.

Thanks for your time

For that game i remember that i've used one of the first versions of the loader with fat support to make the .wbfs files.
Can i try to use the first version of the loader that support fat(cfg v46a) to make the test?

Sure, that will be a good test too.
edit: another question, did you perhaps have install_partitions = only_game in config.txt, or did you not change that (in which case the default is = all)

just wondering what is the best (fastest) cluster size for FAT32 ?
It shouldn't matter much. With the recent optimizations in v48 i think it should be equally fast.
But 32k is a good choice - it is the same size as the wii disc sector.

I have seen the same warning with a file installed using the loader (don't remember the loader's version but it was the version available in november, the 11th - generating 2Mb files). I have used the force option (-f) with the 1.6 version, tested successfully the game and then erased the old version of the wbfs files. (2 parts)

I don't have change that in config.txt.

My test:
-run cfg46a2 and copy the game from wii dvd drive;
-copy the resulting .wbfs file on my pc;
-run wbfs_file 1.7 for the resplit using command line
mkdir temp
wbfs_file.exe game.wbfs extract_wbfs_all temp

Result:
Same error.

dekani, laurozza: thanks, so apparently there is something funny going on when installing from inside the loader. I will take a closer look at this.

Just a weird thing to note when i switched from a wbfs partition to a fat one i don't have to plug my hard drive in a a certain time for it to work, now i can leave it plugged in. (Seagate Freeagent 1.5 TB)

I appreicate your efforts for continuing to update this.

I just got a USB Gecko and I heard configurable had wiird support but I can't seem to get it to work.
How do I get it to work?
unfortunately it's half working - ocarina has to be enabled and some codes loaded, i think it will work if you select no cheats and create a gct without codes... I don't have one so i never tested that, so this is just what others reported...

Could you maybe make it so you just press + at the game confirmation screen like this one does it? http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=188438

That would be nice

. I have been meaning to add it myself and submit sources in hopes of it making it in, but so little time lately with school...
