Computer switches on when I press "Space bar"

My computer switches on when I press the space bar. I thought it was the xbox 360 controller that switched the pc on lol.

Google is giving me headache.. cant find many results thats helping me with this.

How do I disable that? Whats the issue o.o

If it helps, I have got an ASUS motherboard.

Not sure, but I think there should be an option to disable keyboard wake in the bios.

It's usually caused either by not actually turning your computer off, but instead putting it to sleep/hibernate (i.e. putting the system in the wrong power state, which lets USB input wake it up). That or "Wake on USB/Keyboard" being enabled in BIOS.

Rarely it can caused by a short circuit in the USB port sending a current to the power switch circuit (or something like that, I never did find out wtf was up with that motherboard).

Device Manager-> right click on HID Keyboard Device, Disable the checked box

Glad it worked for ya!

Yeah, I had that issue on my desktop and wondered what the crap was making it kick on like that. My mouse was set to wake the computer up, so I disabled it. Now, I press some random key on the keyboard.

Hmm, I completely forgot windows has its own hooks in the power options. I feel old...
