So i was thinking to get a used PS Vita so i gotta be careful when buying one so i wanted to ask what are the most common issues with the Vita?
Like the triggers or the screen or something, any input would be great.

There are only two very occasional issues I came across, both are related to software rather than hardware and are likely to be ironed out in future firmwares.
    • After a (very) long period of being in Sleep Mode, often when simultaneously charged, the PSVita may "hang" and refuse to "wake up" despite the fact that the blue PlayStation button is lit up normally. To fix the problem, you hold down the Power button for a couple seconds until the system fully turns off and once it does, you release it, press it again and hold it until the recovery menu pops up. Once it does, select "Restart System".
    • Again, after long periods of being in Sleep Mode, the screen may become unresponsive for a couple seconds after the system "wakes up". This is a rare issue which often goes away all by itself quickly, but if you want it to go away there and then, press the Power button to return to Sleep Mode and then the PlayStation button to "wake it back up" - works every time.
There's another slight problem with the system, but not all users will be affected by it since it relates to 3G. I don't know if it's just my carrier or not, but my PSVita often takes a long while to actually connect to the Internet via 3G. The system doesn't actually download anything before the 3G icon turns into the H icon, indicating an on-going HSDPA connection, followed by a swirl indicating that there's a transfer in progress. To speed up the process, and this perhaps only works in my head, I often return to the main menu of the system by pressing the PlayStation button, waiting for a few seconds and returning to the application, thinking that now that the CPU isn't as stressed, the transfer will go through more smoothly - this gives the impression of making the connection snappier.

The memory card or the SIM card got disconnected one time or two, but that's mostly because I keep my system in my bag at all times, so it's subjected to a lot of shaking over the course of my daily commute to and from the university - I don't think it's anything out of the ordinary. Another thing I do have to stress is "keep the screen clean" - during gameplay you will inevitably cover it in dozens of fingerprints which can make touch detection go bonkers, at least that's what I'm blaming it on when it occasionally does. :P

Other than that, the system hasn't given me any problems. In its 11 months of service it certainly hasn't disappointed me so far - it's a very sturdy device and it can withstand the occasional fall, which is great when you're on-the-go - I don't think there's anything you should worry about, really. It's certainly the sturdies of all the handhelds I have, and I have quite a couple.

The touch screen goes crazy when it's cold.

Why do i have a feeling that the " refuses to wake up " may be connected with bricking... thou i had a black screen on my 3DS too.
Anything about OLED screen? I think i saw people having some stains when the screen turns black?

Cold? Cold like under 0 celsius?

    I believe so.
I haven't taken mine outside in the cold but I heard of many cases of people doing it.

Think that's fine. Probably the manuals say to not to have the system on minus temperatures.

It's not connected to any form of bricking, it's just the OS freezing. :rofl2: The same happens to Windows every now and then and we live with it, don't panic.
I don't have a single problem with the screen - it's perfectly bright and very crisp. The only "issue" with it is that you will see some straight lines or streaks on it when in displays dark colours at very low brightness - that's a characteristic of OLED screens you can't do anything about. If you see blobs, your screen has factory defects - it shouldn't be that way.
It could be that since it's winter here and I do play at low temperatures, but as I said, wonkyness occurs occasionally. Now that I think about it, it all makes sense - it is really cold now lol. I don't see any reason why the system could get damaged due to cold before you reach ridiculous temperatures like -20 degrees celsius, like with most electronics. ;)

Keep in mind that I'm talking about completely extreme scenarios. Like I said, I've had the system for over 11 months now and it only misbehaved on me a couple times - overall it's performing remarkably well. ;)

Display dark green, I guess? Or gray? You'll notice them when the lighting's poor. Seriously though, the streaks are not a huge issue - once I see them, which is rare, I just crank up the brightness and they immediately disappear. :)

Consider the following - people don't have a lot of faith in the PSVita, it's not selling well ergo the prices are very low, far below what the actual hardware is worth, in my opinion. ;) I see fantastic PSVita deals on a daily basis where I live as well. :)

Just a note, the black splotches you hear people talking about on a black/dark screen is normal for OLED screens, the only time you should worry is if those splotches are visible during regular gameplay. An example image of the splotches that are perfectly normal would be this:

    Warning: Spoilers inside!

It's just a byproduct of mass-producing OLED screens, there isn't anything you can do about them and they should only show up when the screen gets very dark (IE a black loading screen or something).

No, splotches are only seen in the event of extremely poor lighting, the chances of you encountering them are close to nil. Like I said earlier, if you see blobs and splotches in gameplay, your screen is borked - you're more likely to see streaks.
That's a bit of an extreme example of the blobs, but hey. :P

No. It's only when the brightness drops an extreme amount, like from 100% brightness to 5% brightness.

EDIT: Foxi4, that's actually a common example for the blobs. They obviously vary between each screen, though, some might have little to none and others might just have a lot, but generally that's what you'll see. On the 2 Vita's I've had so far, they're more similar to that image (without the giant line).

Well then i'll be extra careful with it.
Btw, is it possible to see the blobs if i load an all dark color pic on the Vita through the browser?
