BlueFlame90, do you know the hiragana/katakana of the kanji words and vice versa? It'd help narrow down the list of what the possible meanings could be.

It's really hard to put the english text in this file, because some files use pointers to point in the middle of a different file.
After adding the english text the offsets are different, but i don't know how i find the pointers in a different file. And now that school startet again i will take a look on friday, but if someone an help me with this it'll be a lot of help.

EDIT: Maybe it'll work if i don't change the text but add the new text to the end of the file and use own pointers to jump around the file.
I will try that out tomorow, maybe i get it to work.

Awesome to hear this. I have been managing to play through this blindly, but this should help ALOT.

P.S. Will the second and third story lines also be translated?

what shyval has said was just a LONG way of saying "this game supports single byte ASCII."

Remember the script trans test darthnemesis, noitora and I did before you started on this project? I thought it was confirmed there that it supports single byte ASCII.

That means you can use 1 hex value for 1 english character.

If the font file did not support single byte ASCII, then you had to use 2 hex values for 1 english characters, and without editing the default font, all texts will look BIG and UGLY. (twice the width)

So if you cannot understand what he is saying, what he is basically trying to say is that this game can use 1 hex value for each english character. (you know, each japanese characters take 2 hex values. If single byte ASCII is supported, that means you have twice the space

There are some cases where you cannot increase the file size.

There is another case where the pointers have to point to texts IN ORDER.

Make sure you know what you are doing, because you can accidentally skrew things up.

QUOTE(BlueFlame90 @ Sep 16 2008, 11:14 PM) i added the english text to the ev002_001.bin file and tested it.
it works perfectly fine if you have a savegame, but you can't start a new game anymore

i know why that happend but i don't really know how i should fix this.
I'll try to find it out, but that cold take a while
when you press "new game", then is there any texts that are supposed to come out? If that is so, then maybe those texts were accidentally changed somehow. (a common case)

Well the thing with the pointers dosen't work and i also know bout the single byte ASCII.
But twice as much space is still not enough.
Maybe i slim the dialoges a bit down.

It looks like it's to hard for my level of experience.
Sorry but i think i will stop this project but i'm not sure yet.
Anyway even if i stop i will release a patch with all names, items and knightmare frames translated.

If i can figure out how to make my own pointers in a file, than i would be able to continue

Cool. The first story line really follows the first season, but the items are what screwed me up. Will help Alot of people. Thanks.

I was really looking forward to this as I am a fan of the anime. The final episode for the second season is next Sunday!

Anyways if you do continue with the project, I'll continue to help out with the translations.

If you need help with pointers, maybe you can PM Noitora or DarthNemesis or other known members.
If you continue, I'll try to help out with the translations. Luv Code Geass/R2. ^.^

-Watched final episode of R2. Just... awesome...
ALL HAIL LELOUCH!

I also watched R2 and it was great!

I added a few files to the first post that needs translation.
I hope everyone helps me again at this.
At the moment i think after translating the tutorial i can release a patch, of course for testing.

After dumping text i have to erase all of those hex numbers an it's really annoying to do it by hand on large files. Is there a programm that can do that for me?

Extract text using romjuice.Make sure to read the readme first.

@War: Thanks I always need help with the translations, in the first post i added links for the needed files.

@Noitora: Thank you! The tool is easy to use and very helpful, i never saw this one before.

I loved the ending for R2. BEST anime ending for me.

I hope there isn't a season 3 but if there is, I'm hoping for a new story arc, possibly the ones based off the mangas of suzaku and nunnally.

Anyways back on topic, I finished most of mdb_map.bin (map names, location), missing 62-66 as it was a little confusing. Also someone should check my translations. Some can be worded better, especially the ones with "Night" at the end. Will continue translating more later.

@choji: Thank you!
You really helping me out

@War: You could help me find the graphics of the menu database, because i couldn't find it.

Back to topic:
There is a huge file with the wallpaper names, the wallpapers can be obtained while playing the game and can be viewed at the database. Sould i translate them too?

Finished mdb_scenarioname.bin (file for scenario names, very short). Will be working on finishing the character database next and then I'll work on the script.

*EDIT*

Finished with the character database. Will start on the script translation later.
