all online multiplayer game interactions require Xbox Live Gold membership i.e. not Free in order for you benefit from the multiplayer.
(You can use Kinect as a microphone and talk at really low volumes but everyone will still hear you perfectly.)

or you can save money for on a 70$ subscription, 150$ camera, and just buy your preferred blutooth head set and use a Ps3

Or when your player dies, you can say in code, if enemy exists, do nothing, but if enemy does not exist, then create enemy at certain spot. (This would be a pain tho for lots of emeies)+1 -

Easiest, simple way would be just restart scene, but player would restart from beginning.
