Hacking Chances of bricking my DS with R4?

The SL-1 contact only protects a portion of the firmware. Brickers are free to destroy the portion that isn't. DS Lites protect much more of the firmware under the SL-1 contact than DS Phats do, so with most DS Lites even if you run a bricker it'll only wipe out user settings and WFC data.

Oh! I didn't even know about this! I would like to know some precautions as well. (though I'm getting a new DS lite soon anyways due to my touch screen being pretty much useless on my current one.)

Why dont you try replacing the touchscreen with this unit from Deal Extreme. It only costs $7, so why not try this way first?

Like someone said, just use a trusted DS Rom site with a big forum for your downloads. I wouldn't use torrents just in case.

Also, you can always probably check with the DS emulator for the PC, no$GBA I think it's called.
