Hi all,

After reading through hours worth of guides I've finally got things working OK on my Wii. I've got a Wii black 4.2 and have successfully managed to backup my games.

I used this guide for Bannerbomb, HBC & Bootmii.

http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/ha...uide/the-basics

Software versions as follows;
HackMii Installer v0.6
Bannerbomb abd6a_v200.zip

Result was a working homebrew channel. I didn't install DVDx.

I then followed this guide;
http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/hacking-guide/trucha

Software
DOP-Mii v12
All options were "Download IOS from NUS"

All instructions followed to the letter and I did "Removing Stub IOSs"

Next I formatted a WD My passport 500gig drive leaving 3.6gig as FAT32 marked as "active" and the other unformatted but assigned a letter and "active" using disk management in Win 7.

I then formatted the other partition to WBFS using WBFS manager 3.0 successfully.

I then used this guide http://usbloadergx.koureio.net/help/readmii
I installed the cIOS Installer Xr19 using IOS36 and IOS57-64-v5661.wad -> Works best with newer games

I then installed the USB Loader GX version 1.0 r866 which works perfectly from HBC.

However when loading:

Reloading into ios 236
IOS 236 not found. Reloading into 36
Starting up
Initializing controllers
Initialize USB (wake up
Reloading 249...0
init wbfs...0

etc the rest is too fast to see

And the program loads perfectly, finds 466GB USB hard drive and functions normally. I can back my disks up and play them from the USB drive.

My problems arise when I try to install a pre loader.

I'm using WAD manager 1.6
Using SD:/apps/usbloader_gx/r929.dol

I have both a forwarder and a Channel of which the Channel installs but the forwarder won't.

Channel is USB Loader GX-ULNR-r649.wad. I've also tried R929.Wad from http://code.google.com/p/usbloader-gui/dow...e+DownloadCount

forwarder is USB_Loader_GX-UNEO_Forwarder_16.06.09.rar

When trying to install R929.WAD using WAD Manager I end up getting the following error;
Opening OK!
Installing Title.....ERROR! (ret = -1029)

Exact same error when trying to install USB_Loader_GX-UNEO_Forwarder.wad

When installing the USB Loader GX-ULNR-r649.wad I get;
Finished Installation...OK!

So that install fine. I press home to restart Wii exit to home menu and there is the channel "USB Loader GX."
I hit start and get "No USB Device Found. Do u want to retry for 30 secs?"
Options are "clOS249" and "clOS222"
Pressing clOS249 has the Wii wait 30 secs but still can't find a USB Device.
Pressing "clOS222" causes the options to dissappear up the screen leaving me with a background and nothing further happens.

I have also tried the other USB port but have it as in this guide http://adewii.wordpress.com/2009/10/17/how...d-or-usb-drive/

No luck!

I reset the Wii and go back to the HBC, load USB Loader GX, and everything works fine!

What's going on?

Cheers
Homer

Oh Bloody Hell!
That was it!

Every damn guide said ISO249. These guides/FAQ's really are out of date then as they all tell you to install HBC from options, Data managment, Channels, SD card when that just doesn't work. Took me hours to find that out too.!

Thanks it's been a time consuming and frustrating road :-)

Ok now another problem.

Channel is there and working, it finds the USB HD and displays games but when I click to play it now freezes with the Wii disk drive light on.

Going through HBC then USB Loader GX, the games still work fine.

OK forwarder works but not channel. Suggestions?

The guides are not that old, BUT, to use V19 of IOS249, it has to have the correct BASE, or you cannot install WADS. (Was never an issue for V17)

So better to just use your patched IOS36, and it will always work =)

My guide (which you linked) and the readmii both state you have to use the SD card menu on 4.2,
huh.gif

Or were you referring to another one?

Also, you might want to try cIOS rev17 instead of rev19

guys I got it working fine, however I can't seem to save any settings in USB Loader under game specific settings, game load, such as alternate DOL. It keeps defaulting to "Load from SD/USB" and the game won't run unless it is "Default". I select "Default" and press save. Also I reset the game count back to zero.

The game then runs, but when I exit the game and go back into USB Loader it has gone back to original play count, and back to "Load from SD/USB for DOL settings.

Hmmm I'm stumped!

EDIT: Sorted.....I just re did the whole process from the beginning to the end and now it works as advertised :-)

I'm having the same problem. I'm using WADManager 1.4 and I get the error (ret = -1029)

When running USB Loader GX I also get the message: "IOS 236 not found. Reloading into 36".

I'm unclear as to what the solution was. In WADManager when it brings up the prompt , should I change it to instead?

Here is the dump from sysCheck. Thanks!
