I have a 4 gig SD card and I want to switch to a 16 gig I formated the SD card using palex or something like that guide and copied all the files over.now when I use luma it boots back to homebrew or freezes.if I put the old SD card in it works just fine tho.is there a step I'm missing

update:
ok this works if you dont want to keep booting into menuhax
and have emunand installed follow this guide
https://plailect.github.io/Guide/installing-arm9loaderhax
very quick took 10 minutes

For the sd card fix do this
download http://www.paragon-software.com/home/pm-personal/eshop.html
and http://www.alexpage.de/usb-image-tool/
here is a link to the guide i used
https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-transfer-emunand-to-another-sd-card-working-on-new3ds.383684/

this is the new way to transfer the emunand i couldn't get it to work tho

Yup I also tried a regular format and a quick one
It boots to the homebrew menu it's just luma that won't load I just tried a 32 gig SD card so I have no idea what the problem is

Do I need to redo menu hacks or something I assumed a copy and paste would work

Are you using an emuNAND by any chance?

Yea my ds boots to homebrew launcher then I click luma to boot into cfw
You need to copy your emuNAND to the new card. The easiest way to do that is to backup it with emuNAND9, format your new card in emuNAND9 (using one click setup) then copy all the files over and restore the backup.

Let me guess... Menuhax?

Are you using an N3DS?
Yup

k gonna try this now

If you want to switch to A9LH (And I highly recommend it mostly just because it's so easy with N3DS), start here. It took about 10 minutes (give or take) for me to switch from menuhax to A9LH.
