Burnt disc back-ups are only really useful in countries where internet connection is a luxury or non-present like mine.
If you really want to follow this procedure use NeoGamma.

I will however say, that DVDs are more expensive per GB than an external hard drive. A 50 DVD pack costs $13 on
Amazon US (18.08GB per dollar) while a 1TB external hard cost $40 on Best Buy US and Google Express. (25GB per dollar).
I personally recommend you to purchase an OEM SSD (like a Micron) and Hard Drive enclosure. It is much cheaper than
those overpriced Samsung T5s, and much more reliable than an mechanical hard drive. It is worth the investment in
my opinion.

Wii Backup Manager does not support Gamecube isos. As long as USBLoaderGX is in its most recent version for the Wii
it should accept hard drives formatted in FAT32. To transfer Gamecube isos you need Gamecube Iso Tool in
order for you to obtain the Game Id for your iso. This is way faster than manually searching for it in GamesTBD.

Folder Hierarchy:

root/games/Metal Gear Solid - The Twin Snakes PAL [GXCE01]/game.iso + disc2.iso (Iso Naming Scheme is required!)

Is there any difference in game performance in USB and CD loading?
Yes, though slight. But, it can certainly add up. Ignore Dolphin, it is not running at full speed. Performance of Dolphin
on a SSD should be faster if not the same as a Wii loading from a HDD.

I have had my XBox's laser scratch a huge circle into 3 discs, ruining them. Don't want to have to experience that again.

Luckily, this is exclusive to the Xbox 360. It had very poor quality control. Red Lights of Death, CPU throttling, overheating, and
lastly it eat up discs. As long as you do not use your Wii as gyroscope your disks should be fine. The only thing that can kill them
is disk rot. Wii U in the other hand, suffers from disk holes in their platters. Panasonic you had one job, I repeat one job. I hope
my rechargeable lithium-ion batteries have better quality control. I do not want those exploding anytime soon. :)

Crap. Sorry for bumping this. It is from 2012.

even if it's an old thread, just for historical record for anyone reading it.

(not Wii U) it should accept hard drives formatted in FAT32.
WiiU vWii too, accept fat32.
of course not WiiU mode, injects don't work with usb.

Gamecube Iso Tool in order for you to obtain the Game Id for your iso.
not even needed.
/games/whatever you want/game.iso
if there's no TitleID in the folder, it will open the iso header to get it. of course, it's faster to put it in the folder (prevent opening all isos files one by one).
