Hacking Can my Wii play GC backups from disc?

The serial number is LEH26135XXX (last 3 numbers censored). I've been out of the Wii scene for a while and replaced my old Wii as it doesn't work anymore.

I ask because it is brand new, boxed and unused but the packaging says it's from 2008. It's a white Wii with Wii Sports and Sports Resort. If it doesn't play GC games from disc then I'm thinking of selling it and buying a brand new black Wii because it looks much better.

No Wii's made during and after Fall 2009 can play burned discs. If you think it was made before that, run your serial number through here. If you have a D3-2 or D4 drive chip, then you won't be able to play backup discs.
