Hacking Can I hack my ps3 with no extra hardware?

The model number is CECH-2501a. From what I gather this is a PS3 Slim. Firmware is unknown, owner told me 4.X but I’m not sure. It’s at a garage sale for 50$, just want to make sure I can install CFW before I buy. Thanks

There is no way to know if you have a CFW capable version based on that model number, besides if you can run minverchk homebrew on it before buying.

Well, if you get bad luck, and get a no CFW PS3, you can still pirate PS3/PS2/PS1/PSP games via Han. Han works on alllllllllllll da PS3s.

Your running a 2000 model so the ball looks like its in your court.However some 2000 slims are known to come with 3.56 instead of 3.55 i think,but its a small amount.

Overall if you are using a compatible 2000 slim ,you can downgrade to 3.55 and install rebug.If you arent running a compatible 2000 slim you can use han enabler and inject backups without cfw.

It's a 25xx model, not a 20xx model, so not that much certain about CFW...
BTW, we no longer need to downgrade to 3.55, and can hax a compatible PS3 directly from 4.82 OFW.
