what in the world is happening in this thread, the average layman doesn't even know 3DS cfw exists, do people here honestly think judges will know to check for startup commands as if they have so much as a shred of an idea of what on-boot exploits are

as some others have said, just don't use a splash screen and hide homebrew apps in a folder. To add to that just bring it in while it's already on and in sleep mode

depends on how thorough the inspection in the world's tournament, but for regionals, almost all the judges are technologically illiterate. A new different topic, I find the people and the community I compete with at my regionals to be really toxic. If you try talking in the middle of battle, they'll shun you out or wear earbuds. And some will carry a notepad just to record every move you make. After a few experiences and a new entry fee, I decided not to go anymore.

It's naive to believe Nintendo officials (and competitors) are unaware the 3ds is severely hacked and that they won't be looking for signs of cheating at irl events. People take "esports" pretty seriously nowadays.

I don't believe they are going to actually audit players' systems, but you can never be totally sure.

Word of advice, make sure you have a backdoor escape planned out if you decide to go to any sanctioned competition. Also, take a look at how judges are inspecting the 3ds before it's your turn. If things go sour, grab your 3ds, give them the finger and bolt.

lol, for some reason the Mission Impossible theme popped in my head while reading this (and the whole thread). :P

Honestly, OP, just relax and take basic precautions (remove on-screen signs of hax) and enjoy the competition.

My idea ( also mentioned it earlier in this thread), which would probably even pass the world's console checks would be to do an internal NAND hardmod in which the connector is inside the 3ds and is not exposed (even behind the battery cover). this would allow you to open the console, flash stock non-A9LH NAND, put the console back together, then use a different clean SD Card.

there is no way (for liability reasons) that opening the console would ever be allowed, unless Nintendo goes the extra mile and has official techs onsite that do a check like that (as that would not void the warranty).

That's the thing they do check they understand to hold L or Select on boot. It really all just comes down to luck and if the judge thinks your 6IV shiny Wish Blissey is legitimate or not.
