Hacking Can I borrow someone's Sky3DS for a day? Or can someone with a Sky3DS/Gateway do me a favor?

Thanks a bunch guys.. I truly appreciate it.

I don't see a .cfg in the sd card. I have .3ds, .sav, and a settings.txt. I had the orange button sky3ds with the latest firmware.

hahaaaa should have told us sooner, only the orange button (with lastest firm) doesn't need .cfg.

Akira, which sky3ds do you have?

Edit: at work right now, so I'll do it when I go back home.

In order to extract saves like this, whoever's doing the extraction will need the private headers of each game, which is dangerous to send over the internet, and AFAIK is against the rules of this website (although that may have only applied to selling private headers).

Do you really? I was under the impression these steps were all I had to do:
  • In the tool click "Gamecard" and then click to export the save. It will bring up a keyboard. Type in a name for the save file, make it something you can identify later ("monster-hunter-generations" for example). Press the "A" button to confirm and it will export to the SD card with the filename you chose.
  • Repeat this for all of the games on the SKY3DS that you want to backup.
  • Now it is time to restore your save to the game you installed from the FreeShop or a CIA file.
  • Open up the game you would like to import the save to so that a new save file is created. Once you are at the main menu of the game you can close the game.
  • Go to the JK Save Manager. This time click on "SD/CIA". Select the game from the list of installed games that you want to restore the save file to and choose to import a save.
  • It will then list the save files you previously exported. You just choose the right one and press "A" to confirm and that is it, the save will be imported.
  • Repeat this for all of the installed games you would like to restore your save too.

Save files on cartridges are (for the most part) encrypted on a per-cartridge basis. The "per-cartridge" part is AFAIK a result of the private header, which is unique to every cartridge. If you share your private header and someone plays online with it at the same time as you, you will both be banned. If you attempt to load a save file corresponding to a ROM with a different private header, decryption will be impossible, and the console will interpret the save as broken.

I have the blue button

Got it... thanks everyone. Looks like the best thing to do is to borrow a sky3ds.

Well, if you can give me you private header for those 2 games, I can try doing it again since i'm not really busy at work, that's if you trust me(and anyways, i don't need private headers to play online since im on a9lh and im not a douchebag to use someone else's PH, i have a lot of carts of my own)

do you still have the .3ds of the games? I think you won't be able to extract the private headers now that you've already sold your sky3ds. What we can try is, i'll just use the same .3ds game that you've put on your sky3ds before and let's check if it works out.

Yes I do, I'll upload them to the cloud.

No dice, even with the game used by the OP. I also helped someone just now(I did both at the same time) and same result. Tried making a game save first, but it only results to having my game save even after the injection. Im so frustrated lol

All ROMs have a private header, but some may be blank (invalid for online play). If you try changing it, your Sky3DS saves will not be recognized.
