How can I transfer my Pokemon Emerald file from my VBA to my EZ Flash cart?

I've been trying to transfer my saved file to my EZ cartridge so I can continue playing on the file I've spent countless hours on but it will not open my .sav even though I inserted into the right folder for that SAVER. Does anyone know why or how could I make it work? I realized that when I open my ROM it created a .mde file instead of loading my .sav

Did you just grab the VBA save or did you do the file- export battery save approach?

Did you just grab the VBA save or did you do the file- export battery save approach?

I tried both but could ultimately fix it by relying on save states to merge the imported battery life alongwith the actual ROM.
