I've read that gameshark can do PSX backups on my PS2. I was wondering if my copy of Codebreaker 10 can do something similar.
Can it run imports too?

Or am I just SOL and have to buy a Breaker Pro?

Thanks.

What version PS2 do you have? The gameshark and breaker pro is only needed for older PS2s (codebreaker 10 is meant only for the ps2, if I'm not mistaken, it can't be used). The newer ones can actually play backups as long as you have one original PSX game.

I have a v4 I believe. (SCPH-3001, serial: U232XXXX). Codebreaker 10.
I'm going to use the codebreaker to MCboot my console. From what you are saying though, it sounds like I don't have a good setup.
What are my options at this point?

Yea, it's a v4, which is an older fat I think. This means the only option to play PSX backups is to get a gameshark pro, I was able to get one on ebay for 5 bucks. You actually have a pretty decent setup as you can add in a hard drive if you can find the broadband adapter, which I think is the best way to play ps2 backups.

HDloader is exactly what I am doing. Reason why I am starting in this madness.
I was really hoping to get some psx backups going though. Is there a specific version of gameshark pro that I need to do it?
I'll just grab that or Breaker pro.

edit: Is gameshark pro originally for psx.

I think that was the same disk packaged with gameshark 2 (it was named PS1 bonus code disk)
and it did boot burnt ps1 games using slide tool method
