I recently installed an XStation on my PS1 and found a Cheat Engine compilation disc that includes several GameShark and Action Replay tools. I want to add new cheat codes for some games, but when I edit the .txt file, the new codes don’t show up — only the original ones already in the file appear. Years ago, I had a GameShark Lite that let me enter codes directly through its menu, so I’m wondering if there’s a way to do something similar with this setup. I’d rather copy and paste the codes via PC instead of typing them manually from the cheats menu. I also saw the GameShark PSIO cartridge. Is that a better option than using the Cheat Engine disc?

Update**

I ended up buying a GameShark that connects through the PS1’s parallel port. After setting it up, I was able to update the firmware, but I noticed it still doesn’t include all the codes I want. I looked into updating the codes myself and bought a parallel-to-USB cable, but I’ve since read that those cables aren’t supported. From what I understand, the only way to add new codes is by using an older PC that has a built-in parallel port. Is there no other way I can add more codes to this device(Not through GS menu)?
