I got a few questions thats needs clearing up before I burn backups.

-I keep hearing people mention burning the ISO at 3x speed, but why not at 1x?

-What brand is recommended for burning, or it doesn't matter? I see a lot of people using all kinds of brands, but from what I gathered it seems a few people recommend Verbatim. I was planning to get Sony DVD-R because it's a lot more cheaper than Verbatim from where I am, but I would like to hear people's experiences of using Sony or what ever brands they're for burning the ISOs.

-Are scrubbed games the same thing as you use the ISO patcher on an ISO, because they both remove garbage data, correct?

1) you want to burn around 3-6x because of the Wii disc read speed is 3-6x

2) Verbatim are meant to be best but I have had no problems with my TDK DVD-R and I tried over 250 games all working, Sony aren't the best discs and cheaper discs dont read aswell in the wii

3) scrubbed games replace the garbage data with compressable data so it is much smaller when Rarred, however when un-rarred its still the same size

You should have no problems burning Verbatim at their highest speed.

I have burnt a extreme amount of Verbatim at 16x both DVD-R and +R, no problems on the Wii.

Burning at 3x is an old wife's tale

Dang. I've been using Sony CD-Rs for Dreamcast and I find them the best. Even better than Verbatim. But that's a different story.
Well, I guess I'll be buying some Verbatim DVD-Rs. Thanks all.

I'm using TDK DVD+R, they're working fine. Never had a failed disc.
Are you using the softmod backup loader or a modchip? If you're using a chip, you can just burn the iso directly, no patching is required.
