Ok, I am very new to modding the wii. I received a wii back from a relative and he had a softmod done with hombrew. Stupidly, I tried to do a Nintendo update to 4.3. IT failed and since then I cannot get back to the health screen or channel screen.

When restarting the wii at first preloader would show up. and say "boot not available" or something to that effect pushed a few buttons here and made my way into homebrew channel. So i can make it there. I downloaded a system checker.

Also, after further restarting of the wii I have bootmi now showing up. I did read to try and get a nand backup. I did complete that task as well. have no idea what to do with it, but I did it.

So now every time i boot wii it wil go to the bootmi first, then i can go straight to homebrew from there. I cant launch any games or emulators, etc...

If anyone can help me get this thing back to playing games again, that would be greatly appreciated, I am at a loss on what to do.

    Thanks for the reply,
I can get to the homebrew channel from bootmi.
I can put a game in the disc slot and it doesn't do anything.
I can download the emulators from the hombrew browser, then install but can't get to the channel page to launch the channel.

I posted an image of the channel page im referring to. ( my wii doesnt load that up anymore)

    Thanks again,

Yes, I can get to HBC.
Do I download Modmii from the HBC? Is there any files associated with this that I need to load as well?
Sorry, very new to this. Seems there are many programs that do a variety of things and I haven't gotten a grasp on many of them yet.

You should be able to reinstall a working system menu and all the correct and up to date IOS and cIOS using modmii, it will download everything you need to do so and set up your sd card for you ready to go. I also suggest that you might as well update to 4.3 at the same time, just tell modmii when it asks what firmware you want to be on.

Thanks guys for all the feedback.

I was reading up on the modmii app. It says I will need my mac address for the wii?
How would I get this now if I cant get back to the console information through normal boot process?

Just follow the guide that Modmii produces step by step and you should be all good.
