Just want to use caution. When I send it in, with the system menu deleted will they be able to see all my hacks and stuff, would I be better off buying a new Wii or just send it to them (repair is like $90 right?) After this I am done, I know this was my own stupidity, and will not keep bringing it up here, just want to know what to expect from repairs, maybe from someone who has had to do it.

They probably just try to boot it with recovery dongle + disc, notice it being b0rked, and replace it (or wipe the nand).

You could also wait for bootmii core and hook up a nand flasher to the Wii, then when bootmii core comes out put bootmii core on there that way and fix your Wii without sending it in....

Just a brief note, since I haven’t written in a while –

Yes, Marcan has shifted his attention to things non-Wii related. I can hardly blame him; the only reason any of us do what we do is because we find it fun, so when it stops being fun — what’s the point? He’s still around, if you know where to look, and I hope that once we release BootMii, we’ll see some neat projects emerge from it.

Yes, BootMii is still alive; I still can’t promise a release date, but most of the code has been written and we’re now to the point of testing it out and adding some polish. It’s been installed on about 12 Wiis so far and nobody’s been bricked; I hope that we can release a “public beta” within the next couple of weeks. (In this case, “public beta” will mean “we’ve tested this out quite a bit and are fairly confident that you won’t regret trying it, but not everything is finished and we can’t make too many promises). I would expect those of you who have older Wiis (i.e. those who have a vulnerable boot1) to have an easier time installing it, but we intend to eventually add support for as many of your Wiis as possible.

what? i thought it was a way to load the HBC straight from SD? I have a second working Wii in my home, would I be able to use that in any way to unbrick the wii? I KNEW updating to 4.0 was a bad idea...
This is true, but you still have to get it onto your Wii first, and for this, it being not bricked is required.

This will start the recovery menu of your Wii. This is however dependent on a somewhat functioning System Menu; so if that's b0rked, you're screwed. Hmmm... Well I HAD SoftMii, upgraded to 4.0, so I don't know what "broke" with that. I installed Preloader v .29... Softmii HAD Starfall, but here is where I bricked. I was installing a "cIOS 60" and when it rebooted my Wii I got a system files corrupt message. Went through preloader to the HBC and used WadManager to uninstall cIOS 60. Now when I turn the Wii on it just goes right a black screen. I think 4.0 wont read trucha discs without the cIOS 60 (right?) so autoboot would be out. If I bought a chip how would that help, just asking because a chip could be less expensive than sending it into Nintendo... Would it allow me to basically boot a disc as soon as the Wii turns on regardless of how "bricked" it is?

have you tried holding reset as you power up and so then booting straight into preloader? is so you could run homebrew channel and use wiiscu 0.2 to reinstall ios 60 then reinstall preloader 0.29

If you delete the IOS your version of system menu runs on, your wii is done, toast, send it to nintendo.
Also there is no reason to delete an IOS especially the one your system menu runs on and very few to delete a cIOS.

Until Bootmii comes out, then this should change. BUT it would have to be installed before you hose your wii. If your wii is hosed, send it in now Bootmii is not going to help you.
