Appreciate the helpful response, thank you :)

Final question, do i need to worry about "out of region" roms or is region locking not an issue ?
No you can use any region of games

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Just tried link to the Past it loads to the name select bit then game starts but screen remains black but the sound is fine so no it does not work but not really a problem as the gba version cia of link to the Past plays perfectly.

Same issue as in 1.3, thanks for testing anyway!

I was using 1.3b before (I think) with a patched japanese rom of DKC3 on my 2DS, and sometimes, in certain stages, the game was insanely slow (such as the waterfall stages).
Now with the cia version, the slowdown still exists, but less than before (like running at something around 30fps). DKC3 is much more playable now :)

So has anyone commented on the difference in this and the official version?
I've had 1.3.cia for a while now.

Was playing a bit of DKC2, other than a few sound glitches, and a few hardly noticeable slow downs, was pretty good.

On the old version, it'd take like 5 tries to get DKC2 working, and you'd get up to an unbeatable level due to texture glitch. I haven't gotten that far yet.

5 tries God you were lucky l I have had it load twice in way over 200 odd attempts. I gave up counting after 200 so probably more close to 500 attempts. Thank God for the cia it boots every time

Didn't tested DKC2 yet, but on the .3dsx version, I needed to change something on the BlargSNES settings in order to play that level. Otherwise, it was unplayable indeed.
Do you remember which level it was? Since my savegame on BlargSNES is pretty much done and the .cia version is loading my old saves too, I can run directly into this level to see what happens now.

*EDIT*

I think it was Glimmer's Galleon on the third world, the stage where everything's dark and you have a fish enlightening the way... well, this one is working fine now on the cia version :)

How the performance on o3ds ?
Better than the homebrew version?

As I said, DKC3 becomes a lot better on waterfall stages, the slowdown is reduced now on the cia version.
Other than that, it's the same for me as before...

Didn't tested other games yet.

Just tried it out for the first time (first try with emulators) and it is working great :)

Tried 20 minutes of The Irem Skins Golf game and 10 minutes of Super Mario World

Plays great, very pleased :)

Are there any other CIA emulators for other consoles ? (only interested in CIA not 3dsx)

Got it from 4ds (in fact it was me who asked for a working .cia version) and it works like a charm. If someone with a o3DS wants to emulate SNES, this is the way.
I see that, I myself was getting annoyed too wanting a working CIA build. That's the main reason I posted about it here, so that others that wanted one could get this "quick-fix"

Super Metroid is running great for me, it hasn't crashed yet in Maridia. Though, the audio tends to glitch up a lot. Still, I'm enjoying playing back through Super Metroid, so I can't complain.

A little sound quality is an ok sacrifice for me just to be able to play the game. Don't you agree?

I'm glad it runs great and the sound is not a issue for me as the wife makes me play the 3ds with the sound off so as she can watch her trashy TV programmes lol

Lmao. I've gotten so used to "TURN THAT CRAP DOWN" growing up that most handheld games get played without sound on. So I can say I know what you mean.
