Hacking Black screen after injecting reinx 3.0 payload on 8.0.1

I was using reinx 2.4 but I had errors installing some newer games like paper mario, street fighter and 3d all stars. So i updated my sd card files and successfully injected reinx 3.0 but it just gives a black screen and never boots. Im on 8.0.1 still, do I need to update?

You should move to Atmosphere and update your firmware to atleast 10.1.0, Mario 3D All Stars require 9.x.x firmware.

No you just need to enable AutoRCM or chainload via Hekate.

Can I just update to the latest firmware using check for updates on the switch or should I manually update to a lower firmware? If so, how?

Recommendation is 10.1.0 for now, as 10.2.0 is still fairly new, no games require 10.2.0 right now.
