It is not illegal. You make one and ONLY one for private use. Yes he can.

Check my sig for a place that you can download the games from.

It doesn't matter if its for private, in the united states it is illegal to create a copy of copyrighted material.

yes it is

Ans see that he lives in the USA, backup up a game is illegal.

The laws in most countries really aren't that simple. And the fact is, the FBI aren't going to break down his door if he downloads a wii iso. People have been doing it for years, and will continue to do so. The laws are there for a reason, but the only real issue he has to deal with are any moral issues. Personally, if I already own a game that I've paid for, I don't see any harm in me making copies of it, for my own personal use.

Anyway, to the OP, you have three options:

1. go buy one of the LG drives that read wii discs, can't remember what ones they are but a quick google search will give you this info. It should only cost you $30-40 for the drive, so not as pricet as one of the other posters suggested.

2. Dump the iso onto your PC, using your wii drive over wifi. Never done this myself, but it sounds simple enough, again just google it, or better still look on these forums.

3. download it. torrents are your best bet.

It is legal to make 1 backup copy for archival purposes. That is, MAKE a copy. Downloading it from someone else is not making one, it is pirating. As for the drive, google wii backup LG drive.

Backing up over wifi with wiiHTTP dumper, because it does not use your internet connection, and as a result is untraceable.

Torrents are just a bad idea. Too easily traceable, and a high risk of trojans.

yeah - internal connections - it doesnt go near your broadband as it uses the local IPs to transfer data and never goes out to the internet. Internal traffic doesnt touch your bandwith limits.

All you need is a wireless router, no internet connection. Just leave it on overnight and its done. It also uses cIOS249, but you should already have that if you use gamma

@The Real Jdbye, I thought about that and I have blank DVD's and Blurays but honestly after like 90 songs I just listen to it a couple of hundred times toss it out and burn something else or have like 2-3 CD's. Florida here the heat in the car tends to ruin the CD's after like a few months even commercial pressed ones don't last too long.
