Gaming Best Story

None of the cases surprised me in PW and all played and beat all of them. Most of the time you can guess the culprit in the second day investigation easily.

Maybe, but figuring out HOW they did it is the real tricky part.

I disagree about Phoenix Wright. I've played the first case on Ace Attorney, and am playing through the second case. I've also played up to the second case in Justice For All. I agree that some of the stories in PW are good, but not EPIC. They don't affect me emotionally at all, where as TWEWY forced me to re-examine the way I view myself and the people around me.

Trials and Tribulations Case 5 would like to have a word with you.

Although it is understandable that this person does not know the epic-ness of this case since he hasn't played past 2-2 (Ini Miney Case).

Hell yeah, Phoenix Wright. To break it down, the cases usually go like this:

First cases - Easy, learn-to-play cases, gives some background info on the characters. (Mostly in the third game)
Second cases - Starts off some of the game's story. (Maya and Edgeworth, whole Pearl thing, Godot)
Third cases - Uusally the funniest in my opinion, and usually my least favorite. Not in the Trials and Tribulations, though.
Fourth cases - Really good. In the case of Trials and Tribulations, it was a lead-up to an awesome case.
Fifth cases - First game's fifth case was "eh", since it was added on and isn't really mentioned ever again until Apollo Justice, and in Trials and Tribulations, it was just great.

There are some moments where you have to really play through each game chronologically to feel it. For example, in the fifth case in Trials and Tribulations, I felt bad for Edgeworth when there was a small earthquake and it flashed back to the DL-6 incident.

Don't be stupid, you are in no position to judge the games' story if you haven't completed them.

It's like me saying "TWEWY story sucks, oh BTW, I only played the first 10 minutes"

Play the whole games and then come back, also play them in order, the ending in PW3 is really bone-chilling and all the characters are memorable.

No, you're not. Phoenix Wright is one of the best games I've played. EVER.

Absolutely, +1. Absolutely loved PW, it doesn't get better than that.

And I'm actually confused by the fact so many people loved TWEWY. Perhaps I'm the only person here who gave up on the game early on because of it's piss-poor combat controls. I'm dying constantly, and I'm only at the start of the game, because the combat system is just tapping and sliding on the enemies while hoping you don't run out of attacks.
Also, as far as I've got, I didn't like the story. Angsty teenager learning to cope with society? Not exactly gripping or new stuff.

Can anyone persuade me to carry on with the game? I liked it's originality, that's for sure.

Oh, and as far as stories go, you've played all the good ones. Touch Detective is mildly interesting, but feels more designed for 8-year-olds (while managing to be incredibly difficult). So if you're bored, try that one out. Someone mentioned Rocket Slime above. Story was pretty generic tbh, but I still loved the game despite being a nut on plots. Lunar Knights has an above average plot as well, but is a bit of a grind to get through because of constant monster-killing and dungeon-crawling (it's a sequel to Boktai btw).

Basically, you're gonna need to wait for more good ones. All the good RPGs are yet to come of course, with Dragon Quest 4 and Chrono Trigger just around the corner.

Right now, I'd turn to other consoles. Here are my personal favourites games as far as plots go:
- BioShock (Love the story to this, even if horror games aren't usually my kettle of fish)
- Mass Effect
- KOTOR 1 & 2
- Chrono Trigger
- All previous Final Fantasy games
- Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2
- Golden Sun 1 & 2
- Previous Dragon Quest games (watch out for translations)
- GBA Fire Emblem games
- Metroid Fusion
- Tactics Ogre
- Breath of Fire 2 & 3

All of those games have great storylines, and I recommend you play them.

Ooh, almost forgot, all RPG-style Mario games have pretty decent storylines too. So Partners In Time is worth a look.

Games most of the time have a pretty poor stories compared to other mediums, though I'm really hoping this might change eventually. If I had to pick one though, I think it would have to be FFIV or the upcoming Chrono Trigger.

TWEWY really did have a story that you could understand. Well basically it was a story based game so, yeah.

revenant wings plays shortly after the original final fantasy XII.
and it shares several characters from that game.

I agree. Phoenix Wright needs to be completed from 1-3 before you comment on its Story line. Yes some case's were not so good and made the series bland. I for one disliked case 2-3. And overall 'Justice for All' wasn't as great as the others. My highlight of the series would defnitely be 'Trials and Tribulations' especially case 3-5. I rest my 'case'....hahahahahaha...ha...ha...ha... get it? Case as in y'know and rest my case as in...Oh nevermind

It has a amazing story, especially how the last game and the first game all connect with the end of the series. Memorable characters, its one of the best storywise out there.

TC should break out his PSone or hacked psp and play Xenogears. Or you could get your N64 over with 4 friends and play Gondeneye all afternoon.

For the Nintendo DS, I must say The World Ends With You is by far the best game. Gameboy Advance wise, I'd have to say Golden Sun, and Golden Sun: Lost Age. Both had a great easy to understand story with loads of plots and twists. I got sucked into the first one, and it lasted me 11 months until I finally beat it. Same with Golden Sun: The Lost Age, which I found much better than its prequel.
