I own the Xoom. It's a good tablet with a good solid build. Let's be honest, most android tablets have similar specs (similar cpu, memory, etc). With a few exceptions (such as the Transformers Prime), there won't be a ton of difference when it comes to performance.

If you do plan on using it for school, though, definitely stick with the netbook. I also tried the pirating textbooks on my xoom (with not too much luck either). I use both devices a bit, but for different tasks.
I may just get the xoom, and a bluetooth keyboard b/c the keyboard is 40$ on amazon, where as the Transformer and the prime the keyboard is 150+ dollars
xoom is 500, transfomer is 400 both can use a bluetooth keybord, transformer with keybord is 550, not to mention you would need a stand for the xoom as a bluetooth keyboard wouldn't have a dock. So money wise there about even, specs are about the same [biggest diff. I can see is the xoom has 32gb internal opposed to the transformer 16gb but transmer has a micro sd slot so more memory can be bought for cheap, the xoom only has a usb port which the transformer lacks unless it has a dock then it has two usb ports as well as a sd slot], in the end it's up too you but as crimson ghoul says get a notebook if your going to use if for school as I have yet to find a good word esq writing program.
... :wtf:
:rofl2:
The Transformer Prime has a QUAD CORE 1ghz processor. The Xoom, a teeny tiny dual core.
I believe sputnix was refering to the original eePad Transformer with a dual core Tegra 2.
Oh jeez...haha Ok, was confused.

Yes I was reffering to the eee pad tranfromer as I own it, If I wanted to reffer to the prime I would have said trasformer prime.

The xoom 1 has a microSD slot where as the xoom 2 (Droid Xyboard) does not. Also I found the xoom's to be about 400 where as the transformer 480 and the prime is 600
well I checked amazon for the xoom where it was 500, and checked bestbuy for the price of the transfomer as amazon seemed to increasce the price due to decreasce in stock I guess, but yeah I think you got all the info you need from the temp so it's up to you on what your going to buy

Alright guys its 12:12 EST and I am going to think about it over night and hopefully get back to everybody thanks for all the help

I have the Acer Iconia A100, and it runs great. Its the same as the A500 except it doesn't have a 10.1 inch screen but is a 7 inch screen. I barelly use it and I find it really useless. When I want to use the internet I just get on my PC, when I want to use the internet in the living room I use my laptop, when I want to quickly go on the internet without turning any of my devices on I use my smartphone. I think the only tablet worth getting would be the iPad. Plus the virtual keyboards on the Android tablets suck.

You should definitely check out a tablet called the novo 7 advanced. I was going to buy one but it's out of stock most of the places I checked.
THIS :yay:
How is this the best Android tablet?
Transformer Prime.
This is currently the best Android tablet, but there are rumors of a Nexus branded tablet coming out next year (which should kick ass). So unless you need a tablet now, you should wait for that (it will probably be announced at Google I/O).

He said suggest an android tablet, I suggested one. He didn't say he wanted one which was the best according to your opinion.

It's not the best according to his or my opinion, it's the best in terms of...well, almost everything.

pgimps wanted suggestions. All I did was suggest one and then terminator had to ask how it was the best.

I think I may end up doing the transformer + keyboard b/c it has best of both netbook and an android tablet. Thanks so much for everyones help with my decision

I own the HP Touchpad. You can get a 32GB for about 180-260$ on ebay. :D

I got a 1.2Ghz Dual-core Processor, 1GB of RAM, a beautiful 9.7" Display and tons of emulators for hundreds of dollars less than Tablets with similar specs. Currently running CM7 (A custom Android 2.3.5 ROM) and WebOS. (Dual booting!)

If the fact that you can only run Gingerbread ATM scares you off. I guarantee you that we will have a ICS ROM in the next 2 weeks.

wait till after ces for new quad-core tablets to come out so you can snatch an older one on the cheap with a keyboard

The Asus Transformer won't get much of a price drop after the Prime is released. Transformer is going to be their "affordable" solution, whilst the Prime is only aimed at the top of the market.

Also, the Asus Transformer Prime is a 5-core tablet. Quad-core Tegra 3, with a companion cube core that handles all non-graphically intensive stuff like the home menu or loading the weather or browsing emails. Tegra 3 is reserved for Unreal 3 engine games, internet, and Facebook (because 2 cores was never enough for Facebook).

Asus are also releasing a "padphone" or "phonepad" or something like that, which will have Tegra 3 and has a slot for you to plug your phone into it (transforms your phone into a tablet - no keyboard). That should come Q2 this year.

I'd go for the original Transformer (TF100), it excels at note taking because of the keyboard and laptop like profile and the tegra 2 while obviously beaten by the tegra 3 is still powerful and should be able to run n64oid smoothly. The battery life is also better than the average tablet due to dock's internal cell, the major problem with it was the lag it experienced with honeycomb but since the ICS update has confirmed that shouldn't be so much of an issue and if it still doesn't perform adequately then a cyanogen mod 9 rom will require lower resources again.

I did my research, knew what I wanted and when I found it, I bought it... Having owned an best Android tablet for a couple of years was helpful, the stuff I learned in this forum was helpful, and taking my time was helpful.

Probably the biggest issue with the Android Tablets are companies that are out to make the quick buck, they have low prices on tablets that are not certified for the Android Marketplace, that's a killer.

If you do spend the money, from what I have seen, you get a good product.

There's one quick way to distinguish a "craplet" from a tablet. Does it run Android 2.3 or 3.0 and above? 2.3 is designed for smartphones, not tablets, and it seems all craplets run it.

3.0 is designed for tablets, but lacks the smartphone market apps. 4.0 is the best of both worlds.

This isn't always true though. I used to have a tablet or two that ran on 2.3 and never had any problems with it. I have an HP Touchpad now that runs on 2.3.7 and there have been no issues with it whatsoever. It depends on the way it's implemented I suppose.

I would go with the Acer Iconia A500, I got the 32GB model at Tigerdirect for $379. For the money you can't go wrong, and it blows away Crapple Ipad.

I need to get another one, there is too much fighting over who is going to use it in the household,
