I've finally blown the dust off my n3DS and I want to use it. again...however I have no idea where to start or what to do..

currently I have a New 3DS on 9.0.0-20 on a gateway using the DSProfile exploit. I don't have any custom firmware installed except EMUNAND on the GW and with my research I know I don't have to use this thing anymore...

What is the newest and most dependable CFW or should I even go CFW?...also I've heard there has been a TON of exploits...I also can't verify if I'm banned in anyway (last time I was on here it was a rather big deal..)

Any help is definitely appreciated..

You don't need EMUNand anymore. The best CFW right now is Luma3ds. Your best friend is https://3ds.guide it has everything you need, just follow it step by step and you are good to go (read every detail!)

You should follow this guide to install CFW: https://3ds.guide

It's recommended that you ditch Gateway completely, so you should backup your save files with JKSM first.

Thank you so much for the help...is the 3DS ban thing still a big thing? what about this SoundHax? / SafeHax and B9S?

Follow the red tips at the top of the guide for minimizing your ban risk, although there hasn't been a banwave since May. Still, better safe than sorry.

If you're following the guide, then you're probably using Soundhax to install B9S, assuming you're actually on 9.0.

Soundhax and SafeHax are entrypoints like menuhax. B9S is like an updated version of AL9H

ah..so. Soundhax is the better exploit to install B9S to get Luma3DS...correct?

also....since EMUNAND is highly obsolete is there a way to get my save data off of there?

also,...what's this this feud between REINAND CFW and Luma?..do they each have their own benefits?...

Soundhax is your easiest choice to install B9S, although you have other choices.

The guide also walks you through how to move your emuNAND to your sysNAND.

Yep it's the easiest entrypoint, you will see how easy it is since it requires only a sound file ( And the homebrew launcher files ). Unfortunately I haven't used EMUNand and I don't know how to help you maybe someone else can

In the last part of the guide, there is a section that says the following:
If, before following this guide, you already had an EmuNAND setup and would like to move the contents of your previous EmuNAND to your new SysNAND CFW, now is the time to follow Move EmuNAND before doing this section.
So, the guide has you covered.

what's the difference between REINAND and Luma? I'm going to follow the guide to install LUMA and it seems luma has more support but what really is the difference?

also I did the steps in red to decrease chances of a ban...should I go online still?

There are only minor differences between Luma3DS and other CFW options. Luma3DS is recommended due to its support and additional features.

If you followed the steps in the guide, then you are unlikely to be banned in the future. However, there's no way to know for sure. In addition to those precautions, it's generally good practice to stay disconnected from the Wi-Fi unless you're actively playing a game online.

@SylverReZ, I also heard one of the Prince of Persia games was so unfinished that it required the "24/7 online" drm so a puzzle could be done and the game could be finished. And that when the Ubisoft servers were closed the (cracked) game was impossible to finish or something like that
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, That's extra scummy. Ubisoft nowadays ship out incomplete games like Skull and Bones which was being worked on for nearly a decade now.

I like that games can be fixed after the fact, hate that it's being abused via beta tests... And DLC... I was a 7800 owner back in the day and loved Impossible Mission, turns out I couldn't beat it because it was actually impossible lol

I never knew about it at the time but a fixed version was available but you had to mail in your broken copy lol
