'Baldur's Gate 3' gets new trailer, character creation and romance details

During today's Panel From Hell: Release Showcase, the final chaotic live update show from Larian Studios before the game's release, a new trailer and gameplay details about Baldur’s Gate 3 was revealed. In particular, character creation and romance details were shared.

At launch, players will be able to personalise their characters with the following:
  • New skin options like freckles, vitiligo, scars
  • New tattoo designs
  • Heterochromia
  • Lip makeup customization
  • Accessories like earrings and piercings
  • Horn color customization for Tieflings
An age slider will allow you to adjust your character's age, and strong body types allow for larger body sizes across all genders.

As for romance options, the game will also enable you to get creative. “Have you ever considered the joys and pleasures of sexual congress with a wildshaped Druid?” asked Adam Smith, lead writer. “Because at Larian, we have, and ultimately landed on the side of giving the people what they want: tender, consensual romance with a man temporarily transformed into a grizzly bear.”

Baldur’s Gate 3 offers ample opportunities for romance with the characters you’ll grow closest with, and no two relationships follow the same formula. Emotional intimacy with one party member may slowly bud into mutual physical desire with one party member, while a relationship that begins with a night of post-Goblin-slaughtering passion could also blossom into something vulnerable and sweet, given proper care.

Baldur’s Gate 3 releases August 3 on PC and September 6 on PlayStation 5.

Grizzly bear consensualnesssness....:unsure::toot:
On a side note is it me, or does anyone else get freaked out by movies and games where they implant, swallow, or insert alien/foreign like stuff to take over your mind or other wacky ways to control people? Just saw that in the trailer. :ohnoes:

Not a big fan of Eldritch horror, eh? That happens pretty much right at the beginning and a decent part of the story will be finding a way to get it out of you or neutralize its effects.

I like it to an extent for the horror aspect, but I think i mightve seen it too early when watching movies back in the day. stuff like, night of the creeps, the kiss, that one jason movie when that one lady... :ohnoes:, the hidden, and even the first matrix movie. always gives me that shiver lol
but this baldurs gate...if that is one of the main themes, itll be interesting to see how it plays out. ( i havent played any of the early access thank goodness)

Meanwhile I get told to "go watch porn" or "touch grass, chud" whenever I point out that women in AAA games look kinda odd.
“It’s consensual and just a meme lmao. Why so triggered by [degeneracy]”
Yeah you both need to touch grass. It's an M-rated fantasy video game, little Timmy shouldn't be playing it at all, but even if he does I doubt he's gonna go try to romance a grizzly bear IRL.

i give it 24 hours after release before it becomes overwhelmed by porn mods
You lost already, if only because of how obstinate the file format is.
Druid is always my main class when it's available, and my partner will be a woman, but I'll be sure to shift into a spider, raven, or badger during that cutscene just for you. :P
A spider would be exceedingly useful for acrobatic sex

Also to all the morons talking about "bestiality": a shape-shifting druid is still a (wo)man, "masquerading" as an animal. You may think about it as what furries do.
I saw this shit on Twitter and it made me want to kill myself ngl
You could start with killing your twitter account. I doubt that you have made a difference anyway. Or are you one of the smooth brains paying Elon Musk?

There is also an *amazing* approach if you really are triggered like a pissy snowflake: don't. Buy. The. Game.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
