Ok, I've killed 9 discs thus far today, but I'll give one more a shot at 8x just for the hell of it. I expect I'm going to need to buy some -R disks however. Maybe that will work. If not, perhaps a new burner. Otherwise I'm at a loss.
I doubt burning at 8x will help you tbh - I think you just need to get some DVD-R's; it sounds like the booktype isn't being set correctly.

This is easy to verify, put one of the burned DVD+R discs in your drive and start imgburn. Select the Write mode and look at the status box to the right.

Look for the bit that says:

Physical Format Information (ADIP):
Disc ID: MCC-004-00
Book Type: DVD+R

[...
some more
info here
...]

Physical Format Information (Last Recorded):
Disc ID: MCC-004-00
Book Type: DVD-ROM

If the Last Recorded Book Type says DVD+R then it hasn't been set properly.

If it still says DVD+R you can go into the options (Tools > Drive > Change Book Type) and select your drive and change it to DVD-Rom.

If you have a pioneer burner though you are out of luck, you will need to burn the discs again after editing the drive firmware.

Actually, it does say DVD-ROM, so I guess that's not the problem. If my .ISOs are bad would I get the same error or would it actually find a DVD and then crash?

thats sounds like you dropped one of the rubber spacers, which are responsible to cut out the vibration of the drive, into your drive during modchip installation. doesn't look like a nintendo fault. sorry to say that.

Aww we can't even blame them a little bit? What about LG? :V

Honestly though the only holes for entrance/exit in the drive are too tiny for that thing it couldn't have just dropped in, though if it did and it was my fault I don't care too much since the Wii works better than ever now, it's not about blame-game it's just if it works or not AND IT DOES

I'd try another type of media and make it DVD-R (DL?? is this supported? )
I'd always use DVD+R DL over -R DL. +R allows the user to set the layerbreak position, whilst -r has it fixed. -R is also a much less mature format with very little support. Most burners now have quite good write strategies for +R DL media.

Sorry I can't answer that, all the iso's I've created have worked fine - in fact the only game I've had a problem with yet is De Blob. :/

I'm sorry, but injecting stupidity is what you and the idiots proclaiming 2.4x have been doing. You tell people to go read cdfreaks - go read it yourself, you may learn something about optical discs.
i am not telling anybody to use 2,4x as his prefered speed. but it's a fact that it's possible to write dvd-r with 2,4x and not as you said it's only possible with dvd+r. thats what i stated as bullshit. not the rest of your post. period.

as you and most of the guys in at cdfreaks and other places are stating most of the new drives are optimized for highspeed burning (>12) most of the older drives aren't. my drive for example doesn't even support higher speeds than 8x and brings the best results for me @ 2.4x. i am not arguing with sb who doesn't get the point of a post.

Lets say I install this backup loader and all the things needed for it to work, and got it working. Will original Disc games still work???????????????

i know there are compatibility issues with +R... it was stated in this thread and others before it.

I use dvd+R and I dont have problems. I use IMGBURN and burn at 2x with dvd boot set to dvd-rom.

well first thanx Wiigator and Waninkoko
smile.gif

then one question if someone has the same strange thing that happpened to me : all my wii games aren t working anymore while they were working great (except the movies) with waninkoko loader ?
all my games (are patched) begin to launch then turn to black and white, and just freeze ! the games are no more heroes, tales of symphonia 2, house of the dead 2/3 ! the two first are freezing, the third plays fine but in black and white
any idea ?

its seems very obvious now that the disc could not be read, error is related only to 1:1 copy games, its not happening with the decrypted copies!

I swear I am the only person in the world right now who is having terrible luck with this stuff... I'm not sure if it's my 5 year old PC that's the problem or the shitty dynex Best buy crap brand of DVD-R's im using... I've gone through so many discs, that I'm ready to just about give this thing up...
blink.gif

The first iteration of these "backup loader/launchers" I only got one game to work, and that was somewhat laggy, but now this 0.3 stuff has got me completely frustrated. So now the game I had working doesn't work, and neither does anything else. It usually just freezes on the Loader screen saying "No SD codes found". And YES! i have tried many permutations of the options menu... Nothing seems to work...

Does it seem a general trend that PAL versions of games are working better than NTSC? At least in the patched realm?

Since Wiigator and Waninkoko come from Germany and Spain respectively (EUROPE == PAL),
my best bet is that THEY make their loader more compatible with PAL release than NTSC.

Seriously if you have problem burning DVD, try get Verbatim DVD-R or DVD +R, never give me any problems, 4,6,8,16x speed all work fine in PAL wii with 0.3 Loader

So after my issues with DVD+R I went out and bought some DVD-R. Same exact problem. I'm lost. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm having a strange problem in that my burned ntsc copy of Party Games 2 loaded just fine earlier today with version 3 of wiigator but when I tried this evening it mostly fails to even recognize or load the disk. It is a nonpatched copy. It sometimes will load the disk and act like it's going to load but hangs. I can hear it reading but it just sits there. Btw, I can load an ntsc copy off Mario Kart Wii with no problems. Any ideas?

Try get new ISO? don't try to use the same ISO if it keep failed for more than 2 times.
try download WiiScrubber iso, it won't take long to download 1.5 ~ 2 GB iso, rather than wasting more DVD

http://www.gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=83360

i burned all my wii games using DVD+R book type change to DVD-ROM with Imgburn at x4, x8, x16, haven't seen any problem.
DVD burner ~ Sony DRU-340a

Has anyone had luck scrubbing things after they've been patched? I want to patch my scrubbed SSBB disc but the patcher restores it to 7GB in size and at that point wiiscrubber won't recognize the iso at all. Maybe I just need to buy some DL media
