Sorry if this has been asked before, but would the following be possible?

I know preloader can set a dol to autoboot instead of the system menu, but would it be possible to code a dol that checks to see if a button is held down (on either the first cube controller or on the first wiimote) and if that button is held down it boots the disc channel, otherwise it loads the wii menu as normal.

For example:
(If the buttons that were checked were Y on the cube controller and 2 on the wiimote):
Scenario 1: Y is held down on the first gamecube controller: boots wiigator's backup loader
Scenario 2: 2 is held down on the first wiiremote: boots wiigator's backup loader
Scenario 3: Neither Y on the first cube controller or 2 on the first wiimote is held down: boots wiimenu

I'm assuming it wouldn't be very difficult with a few if/else statements, i just have no idea how to do it.

check crazy intro (poc thread) not sure what channels it compat with but you can configure it to boot a channel at startup by using the wiimote d-pad.

Well, provided that does work with the backup channel, that does almost what I want it to do.
I'd really like to be able to do essentially the same thing with a gamecube controller as well, or solely with a cube controller if both isn't doable. With an autoboot controllable with a cube controller then I don't need to worry with wiiremotes when all I want to do is play a cube game.

are you using haxchi, tiramisu or aroma?
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    yeah
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
no, I'm asking which one of them you are using
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    aroma
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
in that case, there is no such thing as homebrew launcher for aroma
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
you have to launch your homebrews directly from the wii u menu
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
there is a plugin that display them on the wii u menu, pretty sure it is enabled by default
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    so like it doesnt exist
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    yeah
    ?
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
it doesn't exist, at least not for aroma
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    ohhhhh
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
on tiramisu you can access it by opening mii maker
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    okay
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
I don't have a wii u anymore to test it myself, but if homebrews are not visible on the wii u menu I think you can press L + R + minus to open the plugin menu, there should be an option called "homebrews on wii u menu" or something similar
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    nope
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    it is L+dpad down+ select
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
but homebrew is appearing in the home menu btw
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
    yes, now I remember it
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
then it is working, I also don't like that they did this but it is the only option you have if you are using aroma
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
