after ive read somewhere on the net ( forgot the web)(and sorry for not crediting the creator) ive decide to try his/her method so this is wat i did

ive burned the update for wiikey 1.9g beta and tried to install it. after it checked the flashdrive and started to install the actual update I QUICKLY TURN OFF UR WII(EVEN THOUGH IT SAYS DO NOT TURN IT OFF). BUT U NEED TO TURN IT OFF FOR THE ACTUAL RETAIL COPY OF US SSBB TO WORK. then i restarted my wii and inserted the the acutal retial copy and click on the drive channel and it told me to in order for the game to work u need to update. and so i did and after the update the wii restarded and the next thing i know Voila! the super smash bros logo showed up in the drive channel and the game worked like a charm... this is no joke!!! try it urself but just because it might damage the wiis so do it at ur own risk. i did it and i know it works and i have wiikey with 1.9b update

Complete and utter lies. The Wiikey reads the high media byte to check for retail/burnt discs and treats them accordingly. Dual layer discs have a different value for that byte, so the Wiikey fails on reads. That is all.

This could actually work..

By turning off the Wiikey in the middle of a firmware update (1.9b>1.9g), you effectively disable it so you are able to play a legit copy of SSBB.

So I guess these are the steps:
Start with 1.9g > Recover to 1.9b > Update 1.9g, pull plug during update > Play Brawl > Recover to 1.9b > Flash 1.9g proper > Back to 1.9g

Topic title is misleading. To get SSBB to work, people have been pulling the plug on their wiis while updating their Wiikeys. This could lead to an unrecoverable Wiikey and is a really, really stupid idea.

He is just saying that it is a stupid idea which it is.
Its a lot of hassle each time anyway.

Since the Wiikey Recovery Disc is meant to recover from a bad flash, in theory, this should be relatively safe. There is still a small possibility that you won't be able to recover, though, that's why we said "try at your own risk." If you paid for a retail copy of SSBB and are desperate to play it, though, I'm sure the benefits outweigh the risk.

I rather enjoy a life of taking it easy. I haven't reached that life yet though.
