Atari teases a brand new product

Fresh from a Facebook announcement post, veteran gaming brand Atari has teased "a brand new Atari product" that has been "years in the making." See the teaser for yourself:

Atari is asking those interested to subscribe now at www.ataribox.com and be the first to know more. Judging from the site's name, this product might very well be call the Atari Box. And as this name suggests, it might very well be a console!

What do you think will this new product actually be? What do you want it to be? And is there a place for a fourth competitor among gaming console hardware makers?

Quick guesses:
  • Yet another Atari plug & play unit, but maybe with more titles than just 2600. (and possibly either better emulation than the AtGames products, or going back to a 2600-on-a-Chip like the Flashback 2.)
  • Atari-branded PC with peripherals styled after the Atari 8-bit/16-bit line. (customizable to match 400/800, XL, XE, and/or ST) This was done with the Commodore 64 in 2011: http://www.pcworld.com/article/224722/new_commodore_64_is_finally_here_for_real.html

I actually had no clue Atari was still interested in the gaming market. If it is another system... So far we have Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, and (if this is a true spoiler) Atari making gaming products.
*Wait hang on* (Checks to see if its April)
Nope, only time can tell :P

But in all seriousness though. We will be having four competitors in the market now, three choices to choose a console was enough imo. But this is just making it more stressful for more future console owners imo.
Who is next, sega?

That wood paneling... makes me think it's not The Atari Jaguar 2. All these mini consoles running emulators... maybe it's an FPGA this time though.

Can't see a cartridge slot on this thing, so that tells me ATARI is going to be screwing us financially for DLC or their entire back catalogue. Unless this emulates JAGUAR perfectly I'm sticking with my RPI and Retropie.
