I grew up with a PS3 but I modded it and loved it so I never got the chance to make friends on PSN so I have no ties to people on it. Most people I know have a Xbox 360 so I would like to make the switch but not sure. How does one make friends online in games btw?

I also already own a Wii U.

PS4 is a hundred bucks cheaper. Unless you really like kinect *spits* go for it.

Actually would probably help to look at which system has more exclusives you want more. Pretty much the only exclusive I've heard of that I care about is PS4's upcoming inFamous sequel, but maybe you'd rather have Dead Rising 3 (xbone exclusive) or something.

And ignore anyone bound to come in and tell you to get a PC instead.

It depends on the exclusives. Wikipedia has nicely formatted lists of games announced as being released for Xbox One and PS4, so check out the lists and pick which one you like better.

To be 100% fair (and I'm not a huge "PC master race" guy or anything), the vast majority of the games coming to PS4 and Xbox One are being released on PC as well, and usually at a lower price. When combined with the big push now being made to get PC's in the living room, you are really doing yourself a disservice if you do not consider "buying a gaming PC" as a potential option nowadays.

You picked the worst possible forum to ask this question but I'm quite impressed with how this thread is actually coming along. As a PS4 owner my vote is going to the PS4 but as mentioned before do check the announced titles for both and see which one has games that are more your style.

As of now? I guess I'd recommend the PS4. Sony has a much stronger track record when it comes to exclusives, and the cheaper price tag certainly help.

Honestly, though, I think you're better giving it a year or so. By then we should have a better idea of where the consoles are going and the prices should be lower for both of them.

A hundread bucks cheaper, more powerful and with better first-party support, all things point to PS4.

It depends on which upcoming exclusives you want. Right now they both have about 1 or 2 exclusive games where all the other games are the same on both consoles.

All things considered, the PlayStation 4 has a slight technological edge over the XBox One, plus I personally liked a couple of their exclusive titles, so I'll suggest that. As it stands today though, both systems have something going for'em.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
