I really wonder what the GW-Team is going to do; on the one hand, most of the people who would buy a GW already own one. Further updates would cost them a lot of work and time, also they would only get max. 30% (?) of "extra-money". From there poinkt of view, it would be the best to take the money and drop the project.
On the other hand, they showed some interesting features like NandSave and Multirom. Of course, they could have used some kind of modified GW in order to hide the fact, that current GWs won't be able to use things (because of non-updateable FPGA ...), but let's assume they aren't lying and really got it working. Releasing it as soon as possible should boost their sells and restore their reputation (I guess most of the useres here would forgive them immediately); but why are they waiting?
Do they still "tweak and optimize" their AP-brick-code since it's possible to revive bricked consoles or do they look for the reason why legit GW-users got bricked?

Also, once some sort of warez-loader is out, they won't sell anything, so why the waiting?

CFW for the 3ds will be accessible to a much smaller audience due to the level of tech know-how required to implement etc. The reason flash carts will always be popular is they offer an out-of-the box service that is pretty simple and tangible. But you're right any time wasted from here out is gonna hit their profits pretty hard. Reputation is waning by the day and some customers are getting mighty itchy with all the rumors etc now circulating.

You guys draw the totally wrong interpretation of the outcome of this "brick code" saga.
Yes the userbase is split on it, but by userbase we're actually just talking about the geeks on forums like this.

We're not talking about the other 98% of the userbase who haven't even heard about the brick code.
This problem isn't widespread enough that anyone out these circles knows, or cares about it.

/Go egocentric viewpoints!

Time will tell. Smea explained that, "easy piracy" would be possible once he releases his work, also he mentioned that should be a release "soon enough". Of course he does not want to support piracy, but there should be people who could do this.

Well, we have some kind of brick-code and we have bricked consoles of legit GW-users. Maybe it happend per accident, maybe the GW-Team did this on purpose. But we don't claim anything an accusing someone of something, we're just speculating.

I would be happy and buy another GW card when they release their final update with multirom support and of course the bricking thing gets straightened out....just not ready to shell out another $80 at this point.

if only 2% know of the brick code, then what's the point of gateway putting it in? The 98% won't have any idea of the brick code and will buy the competitors products

Not only would most people who'd buy a Gateway already own one, 4.5 and under systems are getting harder and harder to find. Soon, new people wouldn't be able to use a Gateway even if they just found out about it, because they'll have no way to get an old 3DS.

They don't care about reputation--they'd just disappear and reappear under a new name if they had to produce any other products.

And the problem with a warez-loader is that the hackers who know the exploits to make one won't release it "to prevent piracy". It doesn't, of course, prevent piracy, it just ensures that Gateway becomes millionaires from piracy.
