If so, how did you guys manage to button map the controls for n64 games?
I just can't seem to do so
I've had a JXD before and you can use tincore keymapper to map keys. Very useful program. It also works with any controller hooked up and/or keyboard & mouse if you have an OTG cable or a built-in usb port.
Tt depends what emulator u are using. U should download mupen64plus ae it is very simple to do in the settings.
Also you have to bear in mind that with the S7300 the analogue controls and digital controls are tied together I believe. So you wont be able to get analogue control and then use the Dpad as the N64 would. Its one or the other.
Having said that though, N64 android emulation is pretty ropey. Apart from the customary Mario 64 and Zelda, not much works very well.
Mirrors my experience to a T lol
So much so that I just uninstalled it, I also uninstalled the TG-16 emu too
Amazingly it seems like Dreamcast emulation is actually better (still not good enough for me to bother keeping.)
TBH, I've never even found an N64 emulator which works what I'd call "well" even on a PC. Certainly no where near the standards set by PSX emulation, or even PS2 and Gamecube emus. I think they just got so far with them then for some reason they never got improved upon. But yeah, N64 on android isn't too hot. Agree with Dreamcast though, thats coming on leaps and bounds. PPSSPP is also very good now with a lot of games running totally smooth like Monster Hunter Freedom, Kingdom Hearts etc all running full speed.
Do you have the newer S7300C? or the older dual core S7300B?
If you have the older S7300B, If you haven't already, download and install Legacy rom: http://www.openhandhelds.net/forum2/index.php?/topic/360-rom-legacyrom-hfw-for-s7300b/
It includes a true joystick driver for the gamepad on the S7300B.
Mupen64plusAE works pretty well for most games IMO. I find the glide plugin to be the best for the mali GPU's in these devices. Use "T" profile for flicker reduction and set frameskip to no more than 3 frames.
The JXD S7300B and S5110 suffer from a wake up bug. Meaning if you sleep the device at all after boot, when you turn the device on from sleep you will get extreme and annnoying lag in emulators because one of the CPU cores doesn't properly "wake up". To avoid this and other problems install the app Wakelock from the play store and set to partial wakelock, make sure you select the option to enable at boot.
On the PC way back in the day I used to use hmmmm brain fart here lol but it had HLE and you had to have a voodoo card that one worked the best in my opinion. To this day it felt closest to playing on my actual machine.
You're probably thinking of UltraHLE, that used those infamous Voodoo GPUs, N64 emulation has gotten a lot better since then. Mupen64 Plus is one of the best emulation-wise. There are plugins that emulate the 3DFX API and emulate the alpha dithering effects (the invisible Mario dissolve effects) and such
That's the one, compatibility was decent but when it worked it was buttery smooth lol
Another one I miss is NeoRageX it was just so nice.
That would be due to the HLE (high-level emulation), sacrifices accuracy for speed, hence it was very fast, but had very low compatibility. Then came PJ64 1.0 and then a plugin called Glide64, which is fairly accurate but emulates many of the N64's unusual effects (motion blur in Majora's Mask, alpha dithering in several games) and so on. Even has hi-res texture support too It's come a very long way.
How do i know if my jxd is model 7300 B or C? The box only shows 7300 and no letters i assume i have model C since i bought it about 1.4 years ago
It comes with an emulator called Mupen64plusAE , i can't map the buttons through there because it doesn't register. For gba the buttons were already manually mapped and works perfect.
Also i am not sure if anyone experiences this but i have this weird issue with this device which i cannot really replicate but it does it on rare occasions.
I could be playing a game or just searching something on the tablet then all of a sudden it restarts out of no where, it hardly does this often ( actually i only experienced this about 5 times) but nonetheless it did it like twice when i was playing a game and since the tablet restarted it ruined progress.
