Hi, I just got a super slim PS3 and the disk is not spinning, I have a number of games and am wondering if there is some way to load the games off a usb, or access the same games somehow from PSN.

Also, the console seems pretty dirty from inside, has never been taken apart, seals are still on, would opening it up and giving it a wipe create some chances for it to start spinning, the hardware seems ok there are no bumps or anything, just old and not used for long may have caused the issue. Suggestions are welcome.

Thank you for the direction, also a quick question, I am on 4.82 would this have any benefit in doing the above mentioned exploit?

Update to 4.85 OFW - Original FW

Install 4.85 HFW - Hybrid FW

Follow steps to install new HEN

Did a few Super Slims last night

NTFS USB and ISO format is real nice on PS3

Any recommended safe way to update to 4.85? (Alright my bad, can easily update via system, I think I should stay back at 4.82 just like on vita I'm on 3.60) and are there any benefits for doing that? I'm reading that 4.82 is also compatible with the exploit...

Compatible with 4.82 OFW

OFW = original firmware, so yes, compatible with your PS3.
All the guides now are updated for 4.85, do you recommend updating to 4.85 and then try the exploit? Might reduce mistake chances I guess

Last question, where can I get the ISO for games? since my drive on PS3 doesn't work, I cannot dump the games, would I need to do it on PC or can I just grab the ISO's from somewhere?

Alright one big question I can't seem to find an answer to, I have the super slim with built in 12GB but no hard drive, how would I go about playing big games like GOW3? Any ideas? have an external hard drive but since no internal hard drive is there I'm wondering how would the game fit it into the 12 gigs?

That's the thing, I don't want to install an internal drive (don't have one), I just want to play off an external drive using multiman. Is it possible? Also, can I convert the Folder format games to ISO?

I've been looking around forums but can't find a clear answer to this, some say that we can play ISO off an external drive directly using multiman but I am not sure if it is installed in the external drive or runs it directly...

Alright coming back to this after a long time. I've installed a hard drive in the ps3 superslim console and it is HEN 4.85 on it. I have disks for some games (but since my console's dvd drive is busted I can't play them using the disks) and I also don't have any way to dump the games (as I don't have a dvd drive on any computer). What I did is I downloaded those games off the internet. I am able to run some games with multiman but others just don't work. I am having the following issues.

1. The ISO files show up in multiman but on running them it gives error encrypted/invalid ISO
2. If I dump the contents of the ISO into a folder and run it, multiman mounts it and console returns to the XMB screen on running from there it gives the error 80010017. Can anybody suggest anything on what I can do to run those games? I am mainly having issues in running red dead redemption and The Last of Us.

Hey, odd question, what is the life span of a samsung microsd in a raspi running raspi os and pihole?
  • K3N1 @ K3N1:
Depends on use for some reason but I avoid any SD card that doesn't have a 2 year warranty
  • DinohScene @ DinohScene:
Sounds fair, don't think I can be arsed sending a small microsd in for warranty but eh
  • K3N1 @ K3N1:
I'd assume cards that run 24/7 with constant write transfers would fail quicker

I've had good luck with Team group SD cards cheap and comes with 5 years but void if it's ran 24/7
