Genplus gx works fine make sure your bios files are named correct and your dump is working correctly ,what firmware are you ?

Genesis GX+ works perfectly fine for Sega CD. I'm playing Sonic CD right now. Make sure you're using the latest builds. I suggest Salamander 0.95. Make sure you have the BIOS where you need it and make sure you manually point RetroArch to that folder via your Directory Settings (even if it's already set correctly).

I tried Genesis Plus GX and Picodrive but neither of them work.
I had success with getting Sega CD working on RetroArch, but finding out where to put the BIOS files was a bit tricky, and I had to get another dump of the game I wanted to play as the one I had wouldn't work correctly with it.

/retroarch/cores/system for all BIOS files if you're using the latest Salamander. Remember you have to point RA to it manually, even if it's already set correctly.

I've never had a problem with sega CD emulators (actually genesis emulators with scd support) but I can't recall specific names offhand, it's been a few years. Even on the ORIGINAL X-box, emulating SCD worked fine when I tried.

Using Isos or real discs? I mainly used real (non backup) discs for SCD, maybe that works better?

Maybe you didn't check which forum you're in, it would be tricky to use the real discs on a Switch.
