Hacking Any other ways to see firmware besides settings?

I was thinking about soft modding my Wii but then I noticed when i press settings the internet browser pops up and says can't find the file. Are there any other ways to see the firmware version?
My most recently played game was American Super Smash Bros. Brawl or Wii Music if that helps.

You can run syscheck to view the install system menu, and the current region setting of the wii. The two must match or you will have a semi brick, which you have.

Just figured out i must have a semi-bricked jap wii with 4.3 because the brawl thing works but banner bomb doesn't.

There you go, just softmod it again and then install the correct system ios and firmware. Just follow the modmii guide linked above this forum. Take your wii back to 4.1 for the correct region.
